Posting guidelines

Before creating a discussion, please make sure you have read the FAQ in case your issue may have been covered in it.

If you are unable to find any help in the FAQ, then you may post a thread here while following these guidelines:
  1. State the game you are level designing for. This is important because an entity that may work in a game may not work in another (func_rotating does not work in TF2, for instance).

  2. State the problem you are having in detail. Include what you were doing when the issue started to arise. An example of this would be:

  3. Include the troubleshooting steps you went through. This will keep us from posting the same steps that you may have already gone through. An example of this would be:

  4. Include a compile log and put it between the [code][/code] tags or use pastebin[pastebin.com]. This is one if not the most important piece of information we need. 8 discussions out of 10, give or take, include an issue that the compiler reports.

  5. If you want to post one or more images, that's fine, but use trusted websites that upload images only, like this one. If your URL gets filtered, upload it elsewhere, do not go around the filter.

  6. Don't panic. When writting your thread, please stay calm. We had cases where people spent a long time making their level, had an issue with it and posted incoherent rambling here because they were afraid of losing their work. You are not going to lose your work.

  7. When we provide troubleshooting steps that did not work for you, please edit your original post with those troubleshooting steps. This is not 100% required, but it helps know what you have tried without anyone going any further in the thread. An example of this would be:
    EDIT: I was suggested to delete the brush and remake it, but the problem did not go away.

  8. When the issue is resolved, mark the answer that helped you solve the issue.

Additional notes

hammer doesn't open properly, when i do i have two cameras and i cant see the map i have already made
Hey guys! i am not sure if I'm in correct spot for my question, but will risk it. Can you please explain me in very simple words, what exactly is Dedicated Server, and why I have so many of them in my Tools, even i don't have certain titles? I'm totally lost on that one. If you can also direct me to another thread, where I can find my answer, will appreciate it.
We need Source SDK, Hammer Editor, and all those valuable tools available for mac, I what to make maps but its all Windows based. Steam and TF2 a available for mac, why not the rest.

I create a server and don't set a password, then I type in sv_lan 0 into the developer console and type the map that I want. The server restarts and people should be able to join. The problem is that they can't for some reason, they can't see it in community servers, and can't connect to it through developer console. I use a Macbook Air, please help.
So i have been trying to play Garrys Mod 9 but i cant directly download Source SDK Base 2006, so i need help, and i changed the id in the game info to 215. I need help.

Maybe one of your resources are wrong/incorrect.
how do i set a disc game in mine library?
