Using Missing Information Assets in Half Life 2 Hammer Editor help.
I've been trying to use maps from the missing information mod for half life 2, and they will load fine, but most of the textures and some of the models will be missing. I'm new to the hammer editor and navigating through game directories, and I am trying to use GCFscape to get these assets into hammer for half life 2 so the map can be compiled. If anyone knows of a way to do this, please share. Also, if there is a way to port the weapons aswell, it'd be greatly appreciated if you could explain how. One last thing, if anyone knows how to port assets from Gary's mod workshop addons into half life 2 hammer editor, please let me know how. I will not be redistrubuting these assets in anyway, I just want to be able to use them for a personal project.

To extract the assets from a map you need a tool like VIDE. Extract the texture folders in your custom/my-custom_stuff/materials folder and models in custom/my-custom_stuff/models. Keep the subfolders as they are, if the path in vmt file is wrong, the textures are missed .

Where are these custom/my-custom_stuff folders, and are you referring to gmod or missing information 1.6?
I'm referring to hl2dm and css, to map for these games you must create the my_custom_stuffs folder inside the custom folder, and put into it the subfolders materials, models and sound. I don't map for gmod and I am not a modder, sincerely I don't know if it's the same, sorry.

Also, my question pertains to the missing information mod specifically. I'd like to copy the entire game's assets (all half life 2 beta assets) to the half life 2 root directory, but I don't know where to put these files, and the missing information mod doesn't include any .vpk files. It also seems impossible to view the assets separately. I was asking about using workshop addon assets from gmod because I'm not sure I can get any assets from the beta. Thanks for your feedback

Ok, you can create the same folders even in hl2. Go to Steam/steamapps/common/Half Life 2/hl2 and create a new folder named custom. Inside this create my_custom_stuff, and inside it create the subfolders materials, models and sound. Proceed as I said in my first post.

I cannot locate the texture and model folders in the missing information directory, and it has no root directory. It is set up differently than official source games, so I do not know how to extract the assets.

Anyone who has experience with using hl2 beta files, direct me to a place where I can get the asset files more easily or explain how I can get them from the missing information mod which I've already installed, thank you for your comments by the way.
