I am in the process of testing network based multiplayer. It uses the Steam API to invite your (Steam) friends to player a game of Brave Splat. Inside the game you can invite a friend and the invite will appear in their Steam chat. If they accept your invite the game will start and you will both be in the same multiplayer game as opposing kingdoms. I have a basic version working internally using web technology using HTTP.
