The usual reason for indie developers allowing keys for games bought elsewhere to be activated on steam is to give more exposure and awareness for their game - more people playing on the steam network gets their game advertised in peoples friends lists and seen more as they play.
Rovio hardly need that kind of exposure for Angry Birds
Anyway, its not about what Rovio need (if you will put question that way, in not sure they even need it on steam or PC, since they have enough sales on iPhone and Android), ita about what people need - many people wish to buy game once and get it from anywhere. Also steam is no very comfortable and quite slow launcher, also it eats cpu, gpu and ram\vram launcher (which is quite a power consuming problem if you want to play on batter with laptop or tabled pc), so its good idea to get just key on steam and use on version from rovio store, so that you can jump into game directly and consume less cpu, gpu and ram, and yet again its good idea for other people (like me) to use key the gor from rovio store to activate game on steam to get version with achievements and community leaderboards (not sure if last one exist in steam version, but would be good to compare my scores with other steam users).
