Legit! Snowrunner was the same way, which makes Roadcraft a proper successor in my mind.
Use bridges for the Castle, otherwise you'll end up paving the entire run while OUTSIDE of quarry range like I did. Here's a thread with several other solutions too.
Honestly, just don't be afraid to create roads everywhere. The game is called ROAD Craft, after all. :)
I do prefer to avoid all the headaches of road travel by simply sanding most of the roads from the start. What I'm finding is that if there's a road, the game is going to either make me send logistic routes down it or make me travel it with a heavy load, so I just start out with a dump truck and a dozer at the first sand lot I find and dump sand on every road in range for a quick road run. You can skip the tiny off-roads it seems and stick to what appear to be major routes.
This was my mentality going into deluge and when I started doing missions I breezed through the first 50% in like 30 minutes excluding the actual road building.
I laid the major path to the tunnel right by the start and had like 5 strategic bridges + some other quality paths for quicker routes
finished sunken and sandswept is so easy
weird difficulty spikes in this game
I just could not bring myself to do it at that time. The sheer amount of crane work to get the scrap into the cargo vehicle and deliver enough for 10 of each and then need to crane all those into vehicles and drive them to their destinations kinda turned me off.
Unless there is some magical resource to recycle we are probably looking at around 30-40 recycle items to generate those materials. Blech.
Sunken map is okay and i recommend to think out of the box and prepare ahead of
trying to solve missions. Example if you know a road is soft then put sand on it.
This ofcourse take some time so it require people to be patient it takes some extra time.
it can also quite often be a good idea to find alternative routes. A good example is near the railway station you can push rail carts and open a path, and you can drive though the forrest and get to the oil refinery and once you put some sand in a big hole and a little bit here and there you can quite easy make the oil convoy roll.
The most difficult is the route to the castle, but you can build 3 bridges from the railway area and on top of a mountain and from there up to the castle and then this mission can be solved.. ( taking the long way via road and small path is just a pain to do )
Alternative park your vehicle and help push a few places until the mission is done.
In general pre plan and dump sand to make the road better that is a good advice about that map.
And regarding repairing a pipe in the west side of the map near the quarry then you can either dump and and build a road in a horse schooe kind of patern out in to the water OR you can drive t hough the small forrest.. Just saying think out of the box on this map is a good idea and so are extra bridges.
It is also quite easy to recycle stuff, get a truck with a crane and then drag it into the zones and you can also find scrap concrete and metal close to all recycle sites.
And if you dump your concret and metal and pipes in your Bases then you can pull it out of any other base and save your self some driving by teleporting to the base nearest your destination and load there.. Some routes are more easy than other.
And finaly get the big mobile crane its awesome.
Use the very large steel pipes. The busted one go for almost 4 resource and the new ones are closer to 6 iirc. You can move them with the Mule t1 or large crane is easier. You should be able to get 10 of each with like 3 pipes per 10 (6 pipes in total). Iirc Sunken has some conveniently placed pipes right next to each facility making this quite fast. If you use the Mule t1 go slow and keep the pipe directly over your cab for best stability.
I think I delivered all 10 pipes loaded sideways on the wayfarer but it was awful. That truck needs a rework imo. I would recommend the zikz for cargo and vehicle hauling. Just be careful about hitting the cargo into stuff or crashing otherwise you'll bug out and get sent to space. If this happens you can alt+f4 to return to the latest autosave when you load the game back up. I've done this 20+ times without breaking my save but ofc be cautious.
Keep going at it, wait to you try the 2 final AI routes, Tip from the sunken mine to railyard.
Create a new road all the way up to the town to allow the trucks to drive. They just get stuck in the deep mud instantly. I will post up screen shot of route.
Stupid me laid electric cable on the same route to power it which causes a nightmare for the paver !!
You could also buy the materials instead of a vehicle if gathering isn't your thing.
Who played the Map AMUR in Snowrunner on 100% ?
