This game has been securom protected since day 1. Why would Steam "mention" that? What do you want? It's not a secret.
The retail distribution of this game was protected by SecuROM but the Steam distribution was not. It seems that this change only happened after the conversion to Steampipe. Furthermore, a bunch of games on Steam are protected by other forms of DRM since day one and they notify users of that fact on store pages. Why should this game be any different?

Also, no other Source engine game on Steam has any sort of extra DRM aside from Steam or Steamworks CEG.
That mm.exe was the "STEAM distribution".

Because they cite 3rd party DRM on other game's store pages. Might and Magic store pages, even. It is also secret if they don't cite it because many, many games drop 3rd party DRM and go with STEAM only; Loki, for one.

Oh? This game DOES NOT notify folks via the store page, hence my original post.

Yes, I know. I was responding to the other person.
You were responding, erroniously, to the other person, you mean . . .
You lost me. Did I say something that was inaccurate?

You say there is no 3rd party DRM in the STEAM distribution but there is.

No, I said that when the game was still on the old content system, in GCF format, there wasn't SecuROM on the binary. It only existed on the retail distribution of the game. I checked that myself using the same program you're using now, ProtectionID. And since the game was converted to Steampipe, SecuROM ended up on the binary.

Okay, but I had just downloaded the game, via STEAM and that is the MM it (steam) downloaded. So your information is outdated. SecuROM is on the EXE, not the bin? wtf.. you all need to clean this ♥♥♥♥♥

Yes, you downloaded the game recently. That it is installed into the /common folder means it was downloaded using Steampipe. Before it was converted, and before you downloaded it, it was using a different format. When it was on this older format it wasn't protected by SecuROM. However, as you pointed out, it is now.
(cackles madly)

wait, you're telling me it wasn't secu'red until I downloaded it to win7/what? speaking english, as I do, that is what that/your reply says.
