The only "they" that really have the skills would be the makers of Dark Messiah 1, Arkane.

Ubisoft should answer this good question.

Arkane basically belongs to Bethesda now but Ubisoft holds the Might and Magic license.

Considering that Ubisoft already basically cut off support for Dark Messiah shortly after ruining the multiplayer balance it's clear they have no interest in another Dark Messiah.

Arkane meanwhile cannot make a Dark Messiah game due to license issues and cannot make a similar game because Bethesda demands that all products be reduced to the most dumbed down casual garbage imaginable (see the abortion that was Dishonored).

not possible because of licensing issues all you can hope for is that arkane take some inspiration from there earlier games (and thief) for the furure projects

that would be really nice... even better with multyplayer online campaign!
!

Unfortunately, I don't think Dark Messiah sold very well. Opinions also vary greatly among those who have played it. The gameplay doesn't appeal to everyone.

And the console version is a really gimped port so that didn't help things either. I'm not sure there are fans of DM: Elements...

I would love to see a sequel. Hopefully something a lot longer and new skills and such.

Dishonored was an abortion to you? Damn. Dishonored AND Prey were both really good Arkane games with depth...if it weren't for Bethesda, Arkane could DEFINITELY pull off a modern Dark Messiah game again.

Having played earlier "Might and Magic" games .. i don't even know what "Might and Magic" even means :P

It's a pretty random RPG World as far as i can tell.

But i know zero of the actual Lore of things.
Might and Magic 4 and 5, and maybe a bit of HoMM, seemed pretty random and generic to me. But they played nice.

Thats also kind of what i liked about it, it didn't take itself so seriously, it was weird and quirky and just "fun".

So i don't think they would really need the M&M License to make a spiritual successor.
Screw the license, just make something in a Fantasy World again, it's fine.

I don't care about the lore or the "story so far". Just make it feel cool.

This game was ahead of its time then. It was AMAZING and still is! I feel like it is just to complicated to make it well now. considering most games are just bad these days, I can only assume they would ruin a good thing.

Bethesda only makes woke games interested in spreading leftwing narratives through 'interactive' (which means linear really) story-telling and basic game play mechanics. Expect more things like Starfield in the immediate future and beyond.

A game like DM just isn't something they're ever going to make again, sadly. Not without HUGE leadership changes.

Dark Messiah isn't something they made in the first place. Arcane Studios did, does it even look like it's made by Bethesda? They just make TES style games.

Not like there's a mod here to moderate...
