Is Ubi going to patch this to remove Securom?

I can't run this on Windows 10 because they locked out Securom. The game was in a recent bundle, so there's probably a lot of people trying to play.

Eh? I can play it fine in windows 10. Did not need to do a thing, so its nothing to do with securom and does not need a patch, otherwise we would all have the issue and we do not. There is something else going on.

Weird, Ceejay, is your game in the common folder (meaning it uses steampipe)?

Apparently, it did not use Securom rom before steampipe, but does now:

I just reinstalled it onto a totally seperate drive, into its own folder to check, it still runs fine. (You can see from my profile I just ran it)

No idea why your having issues, as I can run it from it default directory and now from a totally different drive, very odd.

Strange, I'll try compatibility mode when I get home. Not sure why its not working. Completely fresh install of Windows 10 on newly built pc.

Still can't play after reinstalling, admin and compatibility mode. I get a Securom error on launch of the Single-player executable. I can run multiplayer just fine, though.

Do you have any drive clone software like deamon tools, nero, or virtual clone drive running? Looking around the net a bit it seems it can sometimes pick that software up and cause issues (though I am running the very latest version of virtual clone drive myself).

Apparently it seems a few people have this issue regardless of the version of windows. There are a few suggestions when using google, sometime antivirus can actually pic up the securom software and could be blocking it, so disable av and try etc.

Its nothing to do with the os directly as people with 10 can play the game, and people who run 7 and 8 also get securom errors.

well maybe this case in particular but im subscribed to many forums and the number of problems from win10 is way higher than all the other OSes combined lol

Thats only because its just come out, so people just assume its the new os causing issues (which it can be) just like when 8 came out, the forums were full of 8 issues, however just like this thread turned out, it is not always down to the new OS directly causing it.

The bundle included the working version, only available on Ubisoft's version of steam - Uplay. They've pretty much intentionally broken the steam version to drive sales. It's not a new tactic.

Except myself and many others can play it fine, so its again, not directly down to steam, but possibly a 3rd party program or setting causing the issue.

My setup is a fresh install of Windows 10. Only additional programs that are running are the various Nvidia software packages, a taskbar hider and controller companion. I'll try disabling them when I get home, but it doesn't seem likely one of them is causing this.

dont install from CD. put the cd-key into steam and download the steam version. make sure to wipe all traces of the CD installation from your computer including cleaning any securom crap from the registry
