My usual strategy is to use a bow to take one enemy down from cover, then confront the other enemies head-on, using environmental hazards if they're available. This usually works for me on most enemies.
In my experience, it doesn't really make the game that easy. Does it decrease the difficulty? Yes, but not a lot. Then again, I mainly use that spell as a last resort situation, and others may use it diiferently than I do.
1. Go to Dark Messiah Might and Magic Single Player\mm\cfg\
2. Create a a new text file "autoexec.cfg"
3. Add "+exec autoexec.cfg" to your game's lauch options (without the quotes).
You can also execute autoexec.cfg in game with the console (type: exec autoexec.cfg)
Now open autoexec.cfg with a text editor and bind your keys. The syntax is:
bind "KEY" "COMMAND"
Equip spell commands:
Deploy_Spell_AIR_1 : Telekinesis
Deploy_Spell_AIR_2 : Heal
Deploy_Spell_AIR_3 : Lightning Bolt
Deploy_Spell_AIR_4 : Weaken
Deploy_Spell_EARTH_1 : unused
Deploy_Spell_EARTH_2 : Sanctuary
Deploy_Spell_EARTH_3 : unused
Deploy_Spell_EARTH_4 : unused
Deploy_Spell_FIRE_1 : Fire Bolt
Deploy_Spell_FIRE_2 : Fire Trap
Deploy_Spell_FIRE_3 : Fire Ball
Deploy_Spell_FIRE_4 : Inferno
Deploy_Spell_WATER_1 : Dark Sight
Deploy_Spell_WATER_2 : unused
Deploy_Spell_WATER_3 : Freeze
Deploy_Spell_WATER_4 : Charm
Here's an example of what my autoexec.cfg looks like:
bind "F1" "Deploy_Spell_FIRE_1"
bind "F2" "Deploy_Spell_WATER_3"
bind "F3" "Deploy_Spell_FIRE_3"
bind "F4" "Deploy_Spell_FIRE_4"
bind "F5" "Deploy_Spell_AIR_3"
bind "F6" "Deploy_Spell_WATER_4"
bind "F7" "Deploy_Spell_AIR_4"
bind "F8" "Deploy_Spell_FIRE_2"
bind "h" "Deploy_Spell_AIR_2"
bind "g" "Deploy_Spell_EARTH_2"
bind "t" "Deploy_Spell_AIR_1"
bind "r" "Deploy_Spell_WATER_1"
BindToggle "b" "mm_belt_alwaysdisplayed"
Sadly, I have not found a way to bind hotkeys for potions or scrolls. You'll have to keep those in your belt, but now there is room for that because you don't have to put spells there ;)
Hopefully that will make your wizard gameplay more enjoyable.
Hmm I didnt think of it that way.
Wow that was impressive im trying archery with sword atm and having fun though so im kind of torn now.
I usually tend to go either withmelee/ranged focus with a few spells (telekinesis, healing) or melee/spells with a basic bow.
Some spells, like the big flamethrower one (can't remember the name right now) can kick serious ass though. I remember roasting entire halls worth of enemies in the necromancers town with that one (all while grinning like a maniac... yeah it was that much fun).
And aiming telekinesis at head-height is basically a free kill if you find something small and heavy like a rock.
That said, the sheer impact satisfaction of jump attacking into an enemy crowd with a sword and taking them apart in rapid succession is an entirely different kind of joy.
Step 1: Bind kick to mouse 1
Step 2: SPAM THAT ♥♥♥♥
what happens when you run out of stamina in 4 kicks? Im assuming step 3 is mm_player_stamina_megasprint_cost_per_second -1 lol
