If he is still searching this highly suggests he is actually looking for developers who care about the game design and the direction, I also agree that dishonored isnt half as interesting as dark messiah.
Speaking of DM2, i would buy it for sure, but there is no chance for it to come to life. Ubisoft has no interest in that franchise anymore and original HoM&M getting more casual with each new game.
I too have wished for a sequel ever since I first played it, but even if that did happen, it would be conceived, designed, and coded for console just like every AAA game released since 2008.
I have console games that I very much enjoy (Arkham City, Far Cry 3, Just Cause 2, um....BIOSHOCK), but I do not know of a single instance in which the consolized sequel to a PC game was not at best an enjoyable disappointment (F.E.A.R. 2) and at worst an unspeakable abortion (F.3.A.R.).
I just think you are being optimistic instead of realistic. I'm not talking about what I want, of course--I am talking about what I am 99.9% certain would actually happen, based on my experience of the last 10 years.
Having said that, I admit I am not familiar with HoMM lore, so it is not clear to me what kind of game a sequel could be. I mean, if there were a sequel, it wouldn't actually feature the "Dark Messiah", would it? Wasn't that a one-shot prophecy that pretty much played itself out?
Like I said, I'm ignorant of the lore, so I could be wrong, but I figured that a sequel would be a game with the same mechanics that is set in Ashan.
I suppose it is my fault for not being clear, but my speculations on the nature of a sequel weren't related to the issue of consolization or overall quality. It was just something that I wondered about.
To comment on your comment, though, I don't believe it is entirely dependent on the principals involved. If we are talking about a sequel, whether literal or "spiritual", there is the expectation that the fundamental gameplay is going to be the same, or a reasonable evolution thereof. Otherwise the concept of a "sequel" would be rather meaningless. As you indicated, a game with the same basic mechanics but different setting could be a sequel, but not a different genre with the same setting.
I think that recent years provide examples of ostensible sequels that--whether they are good games or terrible--are in no way sequels of their namesakes...sometimes to an offensive degree.
OF COURSE there should be a sequal to one of the best FPS of all time. I doubt that the studio will after just finishing the sequal to Dishonered but who knows?
