engine.dll virus? [Fixed] [False Positive]

I reinstalled Dark Messiah today, and Avira picked up 2 viruses. It picks up 2 engine.dll files in my steam/steamapps/downloading folder, after the game completes it's download (I reinstalled 3 times and got the same result). The game also won't start when I launch it, giving a 'Missing interface' error. Any help would be appreciated.

well maybe it wont start because avira is deleting those files. try verifying game cache and disable the anvtivirus

I tried both XP compatabilities, and it gave me the same error both times. It's not finding the engine.dll file in the game folder, but the engine.dll file IS in the folder... Weird.... Thanks anyways man

hmm maybe try with admin privileges? cant find much on the web about this in particular which makes me think its something to do with the anti virus

I was thinking the same thing. I finally got it fixed, granted I had to do the same thing twice...
I'd tried this about 12 hours ago and for some reason it didn't download the correct files, and verifying the integrity picked up nothing...

After uninstalling Dark Messiah, turning off the anti virus, I reinstalled the game and ran it with XP Service Pack 3. Anti virus obv. didn't pick up the false positives, and now the game runs fine with anti virus turned on. Don't klnow why I had to do it twice lol. Thanks again for your help 5M0K1N. Cheers
