Before Dark Messiah it was Hexen 2 :)

And skyrim... who hasn't played skyrim? You can it on PC, PS3, PS4, XB1, Switch, phone, toaster, fridge, alexa... really who hasn't played Skyrim? And it's still pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ compared to Dark Messiah.
skyrim is way more rpg than action unlike dark messiah
There aren't many games like this so good luck & if you find some that i haven't played please make a list.
Not Skyrim, its overrated but "good", Oblivion is that what you are searching for.
Its 3rd person, but the heart is there, and kb/m controls are on point, ui is a little clunky, but very doable - I know this thread is targeted at FPS, but even still, worth a mention.
Combat is without a doubt the highlight in this game.
Singleplayer only, but with 3 party members, npc. Or throw them off cliffs and go it solo. (lol)
Dungeons are deep and dark, atmosphere is as thick as can be.
Many, Many playstyles, skills, weapons, armor, etc.
The cosplay is real. Lots to loot and use. Lore friendly, everything from robes to platemale.
Skills / magic are very well done, melee combat feels impactful.
Enemy design, combat mechanics, are quite deep and varied.
Good enough sound and visuals. Its a port, but ported well.
Dialogue animations are a little derpy, but all combat / movement related animations are solid.
Easily 50-70 hours for a first playthrough, and you can accelerate progress on future playthroughs as you learn where items can be obtained, and how things work with crafting, gear, buffs / debuffs, different consumable tools and items, etc.
There are some quirks that should be known, such as:
Enemies and areas are unleveled. (no scaling)
Defenses and damage sources are flat. (If something has higher defense than your attack, you will do no damage.
So because of these things, you can happen across encounters that seem way outside of your capabilities early on. And if you come back to them much, much later, the situation reverses, where you are way over powered, and these enemies, now a breeze. So theres a sort of sweet spot to hang around, as you build your character and go through the game. Not difficult to achieve though.
It all flows well, especially if you quest and progress at the pace the game is trying to push you. The game isn't, and doesn't feel linear though. Theres plenty viable areas to explore, and your options open up more and more at a steady pace.
But what I said about flat defense and damage - can cause progression to feel sort of jagged.
Where you could attack a dragon, and literally do zero damage to it, but go gain a few levels, unlock the next tier of a skill, find a decent weapon and come back and be well matched / consume certain types of items and stomp all over it.
Most progress happens like that, and it feels good.
I'd say check it out, should satisfy quite a bit. Theres a sort of end game dungeon too. Bitterblack Isle
Sorry for the wall.
The next best thing would be
Warhammer: Vermintide 1 / 2, a Left 4 Dead inspired multiplayer series, where you and three players (or bots) go through semi-linear medieval environments fighting off huge swarms of Skaven (rat people). With fireballs/guns/bow and arrow + melee weapons.
You get loot to upgrade your character and then do it again.
The Vermintide games don't have the same physics based gameplay as DMoMM, but have a grimdark medieval setting that scratches some of the same itch.
