nothing too similar though
Nah, that game was a good idea, but they encourage stealth over killing too much for my taste. I would love that game if they weren't like "Uh oh if you kill people it will be really hard!".
Thief 2, but theres not really magic. Its just more of a hardcore stealth sim.
here are the most popular titles in this genre from oldest to newest
Ultima underworld 1 and 2 are the pretty much the first immersive sims ever made by looking glass.
System shock was the next game in the genre and uses a similar engine to underworld so may not be too popular with newer gamers due to them being very archaic.
Thief 1 and 2 are the next examples of immersive sims and are both classic stealth sims.
System Shock 2 was next and is pretty much where the style of immersive sims gained a fair bit of popularity and where the games started to become pretty much what they are today and is a classic everyone should play.
Deus ex everyone knows about this game
Arx Fatalis is like a prequel to Dark Messiah and a fairly good game worth checking out if you loved Dark Messiah.
Vampire the masquerade bloodlines has an interesting setting and good gameplay but is a bit of a buggy mess at times worth trying out if you have ran out of immersive sims to play.
Dark messiah was next
Bioshock is more of an immersive sim lite but has gained a lot of praise personally i find it a little bit too simplified from systrem shock.
Dishonored games are similar to thief in that they are more stealth focused but both a fairley good games.
Prey is the most recent immersive sim and is a spiritual sequel to system shock its a great game and well worth checking out.
comming soon in the immersive sim genre is a system shock remake if it ever gets out of develpoment hell and a new underworld game called "Underworld Ascendant" that looks good from the promotion videos.
most of these games where worked on by some variation of the original looking glass studio or arkane studios.
hope this helps there are more games similar in style but these are the most popular and worth playing even the older games.
With some xtra patching I was able to get past most of the "buggy-ness" of Vampires. I absolutely love the atmosphere/mood of that game. Different vamp clans do play quite differently. That is a game that is well worth an updated/remake version of the game.
I need something more concrete. Thanks for the try though.
