materials/CONSOLE BACKGROUND crash thing

yes, i have tried everything that is possible, i have win 10 and a nvidia gtx 1070 but, i am currently trying one thing, to install it on the c drive. also i have tried with the 32 file i have tried compability i have tried antivirus and everything else so please let me know if you know how to fix it

so I assume you have already tried verifying your game cache?

did you try the stuff in POST 4? like the stuff about deleting the registry key and the such

I had the same problem and found that tread on google so i will post solution that work or me here.

go to
Dark Messiah Might and Magic Single Player\vpks
copy
depot_2101_000.vpk
go
Dark Messiah Might and Magic Single Player\mm\materials\
create folder "console"
and paste depot_2101_000.vpk into that folder
rename that file to background01.vtf

I get a 'invalid or corrupt background texture materials/console/background01.vtf' after having used the above mentioned copying and renaming of the 'depot_2101_000.vpk' file to 'mm/console/background01.vtf'

By copying another 'background01.vtf' file from another game, I could get past the first error, but then I just get another immediately after - 'Unable to load surface prop file 'scripts/collision_table.txt'. It seems that the game either is missing a lot files, or somehow tries to read them from the wrong place. All intro videos are also missing, so while I can hear the associated audio, the videos themselves are just white frames. That is, until it crashes.
