Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Single Player

Error message when finished downloading this game (Avira Antivirus)
It's saying one or some of the files are not safe, and is repeatedly quarantining them. The detection says they are "TR/Crypt.ZPack.Gen2", which I assume is a trojan.

Ah, yes, of course. It's so obvious!

I'm asking for a solution and explanation because it keeps on quarantining the files.

well the solution is to disable the antivirus while you download the game :p

I think it's better to exclude the game folder from virus scans instead, otherwise the same problem may reappear later.

I have exactly the same problem. Same virus. it seems to be in the update. Did you find a solution ?

No, I haven't. I can only assume it's because of the file itself is in a weird format or whatever. The file implies it's a map generation file, maybe? I know that the crypt is an area near the end of the game.

Well, it's still a problem...'TR/Crypt.XPACK.GEN3' warning appeared in the '\server.dll'... False positives still make me secondguess the files integrity... Urgh...:steamsad:

I think it's just a way the file was made/programmed/whatever. The issue for me is that my Avira quarantines the file so the game can't be played.

@RobotDeathParty One should be able to 'Restore object' in the Quarantine section if it is safe (asuming it's not quarantined soon after), not that Valve wouldn't protect their servers (that is if all games are housed at Valve)

It does it over and over. Apparently Avira is supposed to keep on quarantining if the problem persists, which I assume when installing/downloading it's because it constantly scans incoming files.

@RobotDeathParty Ah, apparently there's a 'Exceptions' list under 'Extras'->'Configuration' left side under 'PC Protection'... May-haps that would help...

Also, I'm sorry for rippin' open an old post RobotDeathParty
