Turn off random items?
Bought this game as simple match 3 game, turns out it's way harder but I do like the atmosphere of the game to give it a try even though my brain seems quite underdeveloped to plan ahead as much as it seems needed to do well.
And then the element of random bushes/trees steps in mostly just ruining my planning as sometimes it's 2 or 3 in a row that I just can't account for.
Any way this can be turned off or anyone have tips to deal with these random spawns other than just plopping them on the other side of your map?

Personally I like to have grass in my storage in the left upper corner, so when an unwanted tile shows up, I easily can place it there and get simple grass instead that can be placed and removed easily everywhere. Besides that, it's always good to have two 'construction sites', partly to get rid of too many bushes, partly to have an alternative when a ninja bear blocks your main construction site. Sometimes those unwanted tiles can as well be useful to fence bears, depending on where you plan to build churches.

You can also add stuff from the right side to help out with what you need. Just don't use it up straight away after getting it. :)

I have several locations in progress, one for building optimally (as far as I can, the one without bears or ninjas), and others just for more or less quick gain of coins and stuff.

I figured out that I have to think backwards to where I want the ultimate object once the 3 or more items converge. That might help you, try to think where you want a bush to be, then place the grasses backwards so that the last one you place will be the place you ant the bush to be.

As for the game giving us stuff we don't need when it previously was giving in a sequence and you need a grass or bush or whatever, I place that item it gives me on that plate (can't remember what the game calls it but it's the reserve place) and as someone else has said have a grass or bush already there and place it somewhere else. THere's no way to turn that off, it's just the way the game messes with us. THey don't want to make it too easy, after all.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and as for the extra stuff on the right side I say don't waste your gold buying items, save the gold for your home town where you will need to save up to purchase add-on tiles and the crane that moves and item from one place to another.
