A new hotfix has just gone live for both the free demo and the closed alpha (accessed via the patreon).

This is based on awesome feedback from the community here, and on Discord so many thanks for flagging up the issues.

Patch Notes:

• Fixed a bug that allowed items to be placed in the air filtration unit... which then enlarged!

• Fixed camera layering causing double vision of held object when in the cockpit

• Ensured datacarts don't disappear on loading

• Fixed directional thrusters with Vive Wand

• Added a hard stop to periscope to prevent it sinking through the floor

• Replaced the binding system so it now writes to a text file in AppData instead of registry

• Separated bindings for Flashlight/Torch and Deploy hardpoints - "T" for Torch/flashlight

• Added a reset button for bindings

• Launch options now work correctly and force disable/enable VR

• Possible fix for the AMD / Radeon specific shader bug?? Let me know if it persists and I'll do something more drastic.

• Added quit to desktop button in main menu

• Added an Escape menu to non-VR mode

Its a big day for Inter Solar 83 as finally I can offer access to the game to the other 98% of steam users!

From his point on the game will be playable both in VR and on a monitor, with a full interface conversion for each. This was the most requested feature by far. The second most requested feature, support of HOTAS and game controllers has also been added.... along with many other new features!

  Inter Solar 83 is finally available to everyone, not just those with VR headsets!

• HOTAS and game controller support.

  The No.1 most requested feature, you can now just a HOTAS or other game controller(s) to fly your ship. Available in both VR and non VR play.

• Control remapping

  Set up any controller or keyboard input to a huge range of ship functions.

  (this will also allow you to set up voice attack or similar third party software).

• Overhauled star map

  The star map should now load instantly (no more game freezes) and has had a full graphical overhaul.

• New music

  A much larger selection of fantastic 80s inspired tracks bring extra atmosphere to the game.

• New ship locator compass

  Tured of losing your ship on the surface of planets? Just use the handy new pointer!

• Updated wrist computer.

  New graphics and features to allow interation with the compass, bindings and graphics menu.

• Updated save system.

  The auto save now saves everything, from inventory contents to ammo count.

• New graphics

  From new hyperspace effects to an updated space suit.

• New menus

  An overhaul of the main menu to make things slicker and easier to use. VR and Non VR.

• Many bug fixes

  A lot of persistent bugs have now been fixed, along with crushing some new ones that turned up.

• Optimisation

  A sweep of the game tuning various features to improve framerate for VR and non VR players.
