Two things: Loss of Hype and Beta testing.
The game got a huge boost of players when TotalBiscut did a WTF of the game, and the game was added to Steam. Naturally, not every game is for everyone, so people left when they weren't interested. Nothing unsual there.
Another thing was there was effectively two games; Stable and Test. Test got to play around with different mechanics, see if stuff was broken or wonky, and then ship it out.
The big thing that caused players to leave was the AMR in it's unpolished form. When testers showed it off, people were upset for various reasons, especially people who mained sniper or reviver. It released in October I believe?...With most of it's 'bug' features still intact [Shooting through thin cover, shooting through holes other guns couldn't, ect.]. That's when we started to see a real drop in players.
September or August was Seige added, and I believe January was when PvE was added in. After that, we stopped getting 'real' updates for a while, and were given lipservice by all parties, thus the community dwinded slowly.
Saying nice things but not intending to act upon it or actually meaning it.
Like saying 'I love you' when you don't just for a favor, or saying you'll take out the trash when you don't. Those are basic examples.
players came back to see and then left again after noticing no real changes were going to happen.
What? Need GOOD matchmaking, but not region lock.
Region lock for many indie games = DIE. Its true.
ppl with stupid high pings, you solve with a ping limit feature or votekicking a 999 ping player. players should have the liberty to play with/against anyone.
You want for this game 20 ppl online? Ok
