Ruined Stairs

I'm still on the Archaeology quest where I'm supposed to get up the ruined stairs. I make the Jump potion, drink it, and click the jump (space button) and W, but I never land on the first stair. I always drown. All hints, clues, flat out spoilers and screenshots will be much appreciated!

I used a Jump potion and a weak Speed potion to get up the stairs. Try making one (or two) of each and giving that a go? Platforming in general is tough for me, but the combo of two potions seemed to help.
