Overall, the game is okay and probably worth the money on sale, but I just can't recommend it.
​After about 15 hours, the game felt more and more like a chore. I pushed through to the end, but it wasn't always enjoyable.
The story and characters aren't very well written, and while the combat is fun for a while, it loses its appeal after a certain point. In particular, it felt strange that the heavy attack seemed somewhat useless. Though maybe I just didn't fully master the combat system.

​The crafting system, on the other hand, is really great. I thoroughly enjoyed building customized weapons and pushing for the highest quality.

Stunlock: The Game

I've been playing and enjoying tons of neat, AA projects recently (Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Echoes of the End, even Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn), and so this seemed like it would be right up my alley. And a lot of it was; the art was excellent, the performances were understated and realistic in a way you rarely see in games, and the weapon crafting system was genuinely fun and rewarding.

But the enemy spam. I just couldn't take the enemy spam. Having to mow through 15-20 skeletons every time the game didn't know what to do with me just drained me of any will I had to actually finish the game. That, combined with some spoilery endgame grind requirements, had me downloading WeMod just to tank through to the end with infinite health and 10x damage. And the ending was so soul-crushingly disappointing I wish I hadn't even spent that much time on it.

If this game had had fun, rewarding combat, I could have gotten as into the exploration as the game wanted me to be, which would have made clearing out the map rewarding, which meant I could have found what I needed for the true ending, and on and on and on and this could have genuinely been one of my favorite games I played this year. But everything collapsed from that first point; the combat just isn't good, and the actual gameplay doesn't have a lot to offer past that. If Echoes of the End was "We have God of War (2018) at home", then this game was "We have Echoes of the End at home", and I'd basically steer anybody looking for that AA spark to that game, or any of the others I mentioned, long long before I'd ask anybody to suffer through this.

Beautiful game--absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ combat. Why even implant a heavy strike mechanic if NO ENEMY ever provides you with the opportunity to use it? ♥♥♥♥ this.
