Windows 10 GfWL and DLC Fix

I finally got this flaming POS working on Windows 10 along with the DLC. I tried about 100 different guides, tips and tricks to the letter and nothing seemed to work. Through hours of trial and error I got it working. My past save game works as well. You don't need to download modified DLL's this way either.


Like the guides here on steam, you have to uninstall your current "GfWL" and "Market Place" through Add/Remove Programs. Once uninstalled I installed the following three things.

1:V Microsoft download link no longer available.

2: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=26686

3: http://download.gfwl.xboxlive.com/content/gfwl-public/redists/production/xliveredist.msi

I installed them in that order. All three have to be installed. The game will work if you just install GfWL, but the DLC will not.

Next follow these steps...
1: Start Steam as an administrator.

2: Right click on REORC, click on the LOCAL FILES tab, click on VERIFY INTEGRITY.
(let it do it's thing)

3: Click on the DLC tab, uncheck all of the DLC's.
(It will do a small update after they are uninstalled)

4: After the small update, reclick on all of the DLC's.
(this will be a larger update, 2.1gbs or so)

5: Click on the LOCAL FILES tab again and click on the BROWSE LOCAL FILES button.

6: Inside the local files, right click on "RaccoonCity.exe" and select "properties".

7: Click the "Compatibility" tab and check the "Compatibity mode" box and select "Windows 7"
Also check the "run as administrator" box. (click OK to close)

8: Open "My Documents" and delete the "RERC" folder inside of the CAPCOM folder.
(or move it if you want to save your old game for later)

9: Launch the game through steam. Once the game starts hit the keyboard "home" button to login the GfWL.

10: It will complain that your GfWL is out of date and you will have to download the update to continue. Do the update.

11: After the update log back in and see if the DLC is working by selecting "campaign" then selecting "free play"

Again, I have tried all of the guides and fixes and it took all of the above to get the DLC working.

Yo i have question. It is possible to play with my friend by internet? He use win 10.

I have no idea bud. I did get the game working on Windows 10, but I have not tried to play it multi-player.

If the game runs I don't see why having Windows 10 would not let you play with a Windows 7 machine.

That said, this *is* GfWL we are talking about here. When this game came out my RL friends and I had multi-player issues. And we were all running the same OS back then. :/

Edit: I should state that I can in fact connect to GfWL and I can see my GfWL friends list. I just have not tried to play this game multi. No one esle I know has this POS installed anymore. And with good reason.

How convenient that I downloaded this the other day and only bothered to try launching it today. Gonna try your fix.

Unfortunatley the game is just terrible though. Every time you die, you lose all of your inventory and just have an assault rifle and 2 frag grenades with no first aid or viral spray.

Cool beans, I am glad it worked. That is a lot of nonsense to go through, it would have sucked if it did not work.

And yeah, the game is hard solo. Almost brokenly so. The best advise I can give is to use Lupo and level her armor skill right away. Unlock the Samurai Edge ASAP and go with the riot gun/semi auto rifle depending on the mission. You are going to have to grind levels and XP before you can really get anywhere. :/

Like any sane person I don't buy any games that use GFWL anymore. ♥♥♥♥ that garbage always was trash. BTW why cant they take GFWL out like RE5 did? That would make everyone happy. Make ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ proper steam ver.

Sorry guys, I have not been on steam for a while.

The first link was to the Games for Windows Live installer. "gfwlsetup.exe" was the exact file name. The installer version was "3.5.56.0" It looks like Microsoft took down the link.

The XBOX.app version worked with the vanilla version of the game, but I could not get the DLC to work that way. I had to install the GfWL version above.

It looks like my install is broken now as well. I bet it happened with the last Windows 10 build. If I get time I will see if I can get it working again. I still have the old GfWL installer floating around somewhere.

This didn't work for me. Followed every step of the guide. The first link, however, no longer works, so I navigated to elsewhere on the Xbox site to find the file.

The weird thing is that I had this running on my last Win10 computer just fine. I have the progress to prove it. But this is my first time trying to play it on my new PC and it just can't get past the GFWL login. Never crashes. Just sticks to an infinite loop of trying to log in.

I've tried multiple guides on here and short of using a crack (which kills multiplayer so that's no an option) I'm not sure what I have left to try.
