Crash On Startup Fix For Windows 10 (Still Working :))

MS Installer for GFWL Redistributables needs to be installed. I attached a debugger and saw that it looked for a file on startup, a DLL, and it was missing so it shutdown, cleanly - not a crash.

Tracked the file to this redistributable pack:

Error is also located in your Event Viewers, those familiar with logs will want to navigate to Event Viewer (local)\Windows Logs\Applications:

As a bonus, depending on how old your Windows 10 install is, it may need the actual GFWL software install - it doesn't work but it does still install.

Fixed Crash, But Stuck Logging In?
If you get stuck in game downloading your profile from GFWL or "logging in" to it, be sure to Alt+Tab. I had a Firewall notification asking me to allow the game permission to access the network. You may even have to manually add a Firewall rule for Inbound/Outbound traffic for this application if nothing appears. There are many guides that show how to do this.

Okay so if you have eliminated the Firewall being the issue, try resetting your Games For Windows Live account's password. It could be a simple expired password.

I have publicly mirrored them. This has happened due to the demise of our beloved Windows 7. Many older MS sites have been redirected to the Windows Store.

Trying to get this to open on my Windows 10

I also fought with ORC not launching and terrible stuttering framerate. Now the game launches immediately, with smooth as glass framerate on highest settings in Win10 and latest videocard drivers. Here's what I did:

1) Use other links in the forum to install the latest GFWL client, and also to put the latest xlive.dll into the game's directory.

2) Make a shortcut to the .exe and put it on your desktop. On the Compatibility tab, change compatibility to WindowsXP SP3.

4) In your videocard driver, make a profile for the game and point it to the .exe (this may not be needed, I did it anyway) No need to use an old videocard driver! I'm on the latest 17.10.1 driver with AMD Radeon Vega and Ryzen cpu.

5) Here's the big one: Exit Steam! Quit the steam client so it's not running. Now run the game using your shortcut, it should work! It runs perfectly for me now at 2560x1440@120Hz with all settings maxed.

Does it say which file? And what asked you to verify the game contents? Did you get a STEAM error?
