Low FPS in certain maps with gtx 970..... New Player!
Hello guys! I bought the game 2 days ago and i cant stop playing it! Such an incredible game with so many possibilities =) Thing is, i came accross some problems that sometimes ruin the experience for me. The problem is that i get low FPS (from constant and smooth 60 to 35-40) and some times mini freezes even with the new GTX 970 or the settings cranked down to minimum! This seems to happen a lot in maps where there is rain, or when looking towards clouds. Is there a simple solution that i am not aware of?

My specs are:

So you're getting the same problem as my cheap, 3 years old pc... (or was it 4 years old?) WOW, yeah that needs to be a game problem not our machines then!
I dunno if this is the issue But I have a gtx 970 myself and Nvidia has an update for it. 347.09. I'm loading as i type
Any progress so far? :D
Ohh you mean the latest update, yeah i ve already installed that when it was released but no effect
For me i had to uninstall Flight of the Icarus {the solo not online one.{separate purchase}}
Then I followed this instruction: http://steamcommunity.com/app/209080/discussions/0/864951657855187057/
This part:

Startup Crash:
Description: Game opens, hears music, and crash within 1-2 seconds.

Very often an issue with DirectX or your resolution. To reinstall DirectX go to where Guns of Icarus is installed and use the provided DirectX installer.
If that does not work try resetting your game to defaults.
1) Right-click on the game in your Steam library, go to Properties
2) Select "Set Launch Options"
3) Enter the text "--resetToDefaults" (no quotes) and hit OK
4) Launch the game
5) After you’ve done that remove the --resetToDefaults"

It seemed to do the trick until I reinstalled Flight of the Icaus.

Hope this helps.

I also have a SteelSeries Zboard keyboard {just picked up 2 more for christmas too!}. For whatever reason it wasn't working so I had to reinstall the 64 bit driver so it plays with my Windows 7 system.

Other things to do:

Get the Nvidia Legacy drivers. It makes it so games like Borderlands 1 will play properly. It's a one time install.

I dont have flight of the Icarus installed in my pc. Even though i had no crash in startup, i did install directx again (Had the same issue on Battlefield 4 when it was released so i gave it a go) but with no effect. It seems that something else messes up with the game. Is it possible that multithreading of the i7 mess up the rendering thus leading to lower fps?
But did you use the set launch options? --resetToDefaults

{Don't forget to remove that from the Launch Options box after you launch the game}
It worked for me

No that i did not. I m gonna try and post in a bit for the results. I hope a Dev sees this thread and tell me(and us!) what to do :D
Nope nothing. I am seriously thinking of multithreading being the problem. Any ideas? anyone who knows technical stuff? :P

I use multi threading. I unparked my parked cores.

I have an 60Hz monitor. I am not aiming higher than 60 fps stable. My gpu's temperature is out of the table as i have 35 C. So i m starting to believe that the problem lies in the Maxwell technology that this card utilize. I had a GTX 760 prior to this but unfortunately not any more so i cannot test the game with a different card :/

With an 60hz monitor, you wont be able to go beyond 60fps in this game here. Regardless if you have vsync on or off.

Not sure what you mean by "out of the table"

What is the videocard temperature under load? 35c is probably idle. We need the load temperature. And did you fully remove old nvidia driver, before you installed the 970?
I am not aiming for higher fps than 60. i am aiming for stable 60 fps. Yes i removed all the old drivers. This is the temperature of the 970. 35-40 because of its new technology. I run it at its default OC profile as well at stable 1200 Mhz. Btw, when i set multithreading off from the nvidia panel, the mini freezes were gone. But the low fps still occur especially when i am facing the battle.

Ok Make sure every single driver you have is updated. This is clearly a software issue. You have to consantly update those stuff these days
I did that using a driver cleaner...in safe mode. I believe the problem lies in the proccessor. Something to do with i7 and the "8" cores..

You could try settting assigning the GoIO exe to specific cores, and see if that helps. There are a few guides about that online.

Still i am pretty sure this is a soft issue. Either related to your drivers or Unity itself (the game uses an older version of unity).
