You can tell the game is dead because steam doesnt show a player count in the community hub. The player base is soooo small that matchmaking takes FOREVER.

The game isn't dead. A free give away has just injected 1000s of players. At low times the player count can fall to as low as a hundred people, but there is almost always enough for your to get into a match especially for the next few weeks.

What Lugu wants to say is that you should not use the matchmaker but use the Match list instead. It's faster, and has lots of other advantages.

If the matchmaker takes forever, don't use matchmaker. There's a reason there's a match list.

Well yes but it's not popular. I really enjoy the game, and you get a competitive spirit when playing with friends.

Yeah but games are really one sided these days which is why a lot of new players leave right when they show up.
You will see crews stacked with people with hundreads of hours of play time vs lvl 1 captains.

Maybe we could restrict players from playing as pilot until they reach a certain level for everything but novice matches or if no other captains can be found.

Well back in the day when the game had a healthy population base, you were matched up with players within your level bracket.
But now they just throw anyone together since theres not enough people to make up full matches.

The PvP population is acceptable during peak times, but fluctuates heavily otherwise. Lvl 1 captains are kind of an issue, but it depends on how the other captains in the lobby handle it. Sometimes they will attempt to spread out evenly, sometimes they don't care...

There's always coop of course, which is cool as long as you have a friend or two.
