Mysterious Tower Quest Glitch

I talked to the dwarf Vivaldi and have in my inventory (and read) the item that I needed from him to continue in the quest, but my journal still says that I need to talk to him. I can't initiate any other dialogue to continue in the quest. Any ideas instead of going back to an old save?

I'm in the same situation here. I believe this happened because when I released the dwarf from prison, I Imediately talked to him (still in prison) and got the books. The Journal was not updated and it keeps telling me to talk to Vivaldi at his home... I didn't notice this for some time, as I was busy doing other unrelated quests. Now it's too late to go back. I hope finding all sephiraths will trigger the next step in the quest chain...

try resting one hour and then go back to talk?

While looking into this because I had the exact same problem, I found you just need to read the book, It will be in your quest items area on the menu, just read it like any other book and the quest will update, took a load off my mind. Hope it helps!

So I had the same problem but just figured it out. Go and talk to Kalkstein choose the option "about the tower" or something along those lines. Good luck!

For anyone who still has this trouble right now, you just need to get another book from grampa in the swamp. Read these two books together, then the quest will continue.
