Curious..
Does the enhaned edition already come with the enhanced edition director's cut, or is that something i should purchase alongside the purchase of the enhanced edition?

The improved version, Enhanced Edition does not come with the director's cut. You need to buy The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut to have.

So does that mean im essentially buying the same game twice? or is it just some sort of extra addon/content pack/patch?
Tré Jul 14, 2013 @ 1:06pm
Oh nevermind.... I'm dumb... I didnt realize that the title of this was just the witcher enhanced directos cut. I had mistakenly taken it as the Witcher 2 en hanced edition Director's cut... Thanks for the help though :) Your answer still answers my question, but I was asking it for the wrong reasons.

Are only two options: buy the game with or without Direct cut. But I think you already understand this. =)
Do not worry, it happens. The important thing is to play The Witcher, is worth a lot. Excellent game.

Well, I bought the Enhanced Edition that is on sale for $2.50 right now and in my propertics it says I have the Director's Cut DLC with it. So there you go.

Then it's perfect.

But I've seen sites that allow for people to download the director's cut as an add on to the enhanced edition. Are they real? One of them is atari support, which sounds plausible.

As far as I know, the Director's Cut removes the censorship of nudity for American versions and that's about it. The rest of the world already had that in the regluar Enhanced Edition. That being said, the Steam version includes them both. The sites you're seeing are legit, but they're for people who bought a boxed copy of the game. Enhanced Edition and Director's Cut were also released as free updates for those who bought the base game on launch.

So what happens with the soundtrack, worldmap, etc. that were supposed to come with the Director's Cut? If the Director's Cut patch only adds nudity, how does one get the other bonus stuff?
Ragnarök Jul 26, 2013 @ 5:27pm
The bonus stuff is part of the Enhanced Edition, not the Director's Cut. But like I said, the Steam version is called The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut so it includes everything from both.

So just another question then. I purchased the Witcher: Enhanced Edition from Office Max the other day new. It came i a card board packaging instead of the conventional plastic game case. So, should the soundtrack and all the bonus stuff already be on my hard-drive then? The game never synced with steam, so it is just labled as "The Witcher: Enhanced Edition" on my C drive in my programs folder. I sifted through the folder for a bit and couldn't find any bonus content. Do you know where it might be located on my hard-drive?

The boxed Enhanced Edition that I own came with 4 DVDs which were the game disc, a bonus disc, a making of DVD and a disc labeled MP3s which I assume is the Soundtrack. That being said, my copy came in a standard plastic box. This is the US:EE (One of probably many.)

Now that being said, I also have the Steam Version which I bought earlier. That is the one I have installed. Within the main folder is a folder; plain as day, called Soundtracks. The two maps are also placed in the main folder below it as .jpgs. There's no chance you'd have missed either of these.

If you can't find them in the game files or if your version is somehow different from mine then as a last resort I'd reccommend that you search each of the discs manually. It could be that your version has those folders/files placed somewhere on the discs but they aren't part of the default installation protocol.

This is one of the major problems with The Witcher. The amount of different retail versions the game has is absurd. Supposedly the Enhanced Edition was the same in most countries but frankly, I find that unlikely. Scroll to the botom of this page and you'll see what I mean.

To top that off, this list isn't even complete. There are other versions floating around that aren't even listed here, namely the boxed version of the Director's Cut. Terrible distribution all around.

Thank you for the reply. I can't find any of those folders in the game's folder on my C drive. All I see are "data", "launcher", "register", and "system". On the disc, the folders are labled "EN", "ES", "FR", "mac", and "windows". I bought the game in a U.S. office max, and here is an exact image I found of the game:

As you can see, it clearly says enhanced edition but does not come with the four discs you stated above. All it had was a cardboard "protector" kind of thing wrapped around a paper CD sleeve, which housed the Witcher: Enhanced Edition disc.

So, is this a not-listed version of the enhanced edition that does not include the bonus content? If so, this is a total rip-off because I could have bought it on steam for the same price and gotten all of the bonus content.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. Looks like your copy is in a jewel case. That's the first time I've ever seen your version. Being from Canada, I have no idea what the return policy of Office Max is, but I'd say try getting your money back.

If you're unable to do that, well, the making of documentary has been uploaded to YouTube, the full soundtrack can still be ripped and converted form the game files which isn't too hard and the maps and guides can be found online as well.

If that's not good enough, save up 10 bucks and buy it from Steam.

Thanks for all the help. I really only cared about the soundtrack, so I'll just convert it from the game files. Also, what is a jewel case?
