Problem running The Witcher Enhanced Edition via Steam

I bought the Witcher Enhanced Edition via Steam when it was on sale a few days back, and tried to play it for the first time today. It went through the normal routine of installing necessary programs for the first time, then just stopped and did nothing. No launch screen or anything. Now every time I try to launch it from steam it brings up the screen saying "preparing to setup directx for the first time" and then after about ten seconds, that disappears and it does nothing further. I installed patch 1.5, same problem. When I try to launch it with admin privileges from the install folder, it brings up the launcher, but when I hit "launch game," it says "binkw32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." Please help me. Thanks.

This might help, it worked for me (not the witcher but was the exact same message). I had to copy the bink file into my system directory.
