[spoiler] keep silver swords
When you complete the trophy quests you can get the famed Moonblade. But I can't access my inventory after leaving the dike in chapter V. Is there a way to keep both Moonblade and Aerondight (my current silver blade) ?

thanks for the help

You can only carry one sword at a time, sadly. Moonblade is the better sword by far. Aerondight can't be sold so there's no point in keeping it.

Oh well, I grew rather attatched to Aerondith. It was given to me by a water godess-like being, you see? xD

But seriously, is Moonblade that much better? It has 40% more dmg, right, but what about those critical effects? (I never quite understood them, but I'd the impression they were handy)

Moonblade does 100% bonus damage to those affected by Silver (Monsters) as opposed to Aerondight that only does 60% which is a huge gap.

The bonuses that Aerondight has is 50% chance of pain (enemies will stagger if they become afflicted with pain, which slows their movement and attack speeds while lowing their chance to parry.

Blinding prevents enemies from using special abilities such as spells or heavy attacks, lowers their chance to parry and makes them susceptible to knockdowns.

Incineration is a damage over time burn effect as well as blocking special abilities, sign use, inability to block and increases their weakness to blinding.

Precise Hit is a bonus percentage when you roll for critical strikes.

But are these bonuses triggered separatedly? (meaning each has a 50% chance of happening independently)
If it is so, it will trigger at least 2 effects in 66% of the blows, which is not bad at all...

Also will they trigger regardless of silver style? I have noticed pain when using strong silver for e.g. but never quite saw blinding nor incineration o.O

PS: sorry for troubling you with such specifics

You can spec into pain/precise hit bonuses into the styles.

You 'roll' for the bonuses with each attack that's attributed to the sword regardless of style.

If you like Aerondight better then use it. That far into the game there really isn't that much left that you should be having trouble with to need that extra 40%.

I would imagine that, if you were willing to take the odds, you could stash Aerondight before entering Old Vizima... do without the silver sword for the trophy quests... but I'd only do so if the Igni Sign were your main offensive choice.

(Protip: A full-spec basic Igni does a LOT of damage.)

I DID seriously consider doing that very thing you said! hahaha But then I'd have to reload chapV entirely, so I just forfeited the sword of the Lady. Not without a tear.
Next time I play I guess I'll try it out. Drink a Wolf potion, imbue my Steel sword with Perun rune... sounds interesting. And challenging!

BTW, Igni is *very* powerfull and handy. I always keep it maxed. (Y)
Another very good sign, often underlooked, is Yrden. Especialy good vs mobs.
