is it some 64bit problem? i remember playing it with win 7 32 bit, when i got this game years ago and now i wanted to play it on my win7 64 bit laptop. and it won't let me.
i can't even go to the task manager, or alt+tab to windows. well, maybe i can, but i see nothing but a black screen
Yeah, I also have a Win7 64-bit laptop. I ended up having to edit the video settings through the registry. My only current solution is to start and play the game in windowed mode. So far I have no problems.
If you don't know how to do it, simply press the start gem on the Windows taskbar, type in "regedit" (without the quotations, of course) into the search bar at the bottom and start up the registry editor.
Once it's open, go to HKEY_Current_User > Software > cd projekt red > witcher > settings and a list of the in-game settings should appear to the right. From there, find where it says "Fullscreen" and change the setting from 1 to 0. After that, simply exit and start up the game. It worked fine for me, so hopefully this solution works for you as well.
Playing the game in windowed mode is better than not being able to play the game at all.
I just bought Witcher 2 and had the same problem. Running in windowed mode helped me also. Might be interesting for those with same problems!
Go to the Steam folder > SteamApps > Common > The Witcher Enhanced Edition (or whatever version is experiencing the issue) > System
Right-Click on the witcher.exe file and choose Properties.
Click the Compatability tab.
Select Run this program in compatibility mode for:
I am running Windows 8.1 x64 and chose to use compat mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
That fixed the issue immediately.
Hope this helps!

Then you only need to install it, but dont forget
DO NOT USE CRACK, ONLY INSTALL IT, YOUR CRACK IS FOR VERSION 1.0 THAT'S WHY YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING!!! JUST INSTALL PATCH AND ENTER THE GAME!
Hope you enjoy ;)
Fixed it instantly, even without having to get out of the game. Thanks!
