Dice Poker Mod?
Has anyone made a mod for the Witcher that lets you win dice poker every time? I've been playing for hours against a novice player and haven't won a single round. It's obvious that it's weighted towards the computer so it gets consistently better odds.

I hate purely random games to begin with, and having it stacked against you means there is no reason to play to begin with. I wish they didn't even put dice poker in the game - but I am compelled to finish the quest line because I want to finish all the quests.

It was utterly stupid for the developers to make it this way.

I would very much appreciate a mod to fix this. I see on Nexus that they have a mod to make 1 round poker, but since I can't even win 1 round that doesn't help me at all. Seriously are really no other dice poker mods?

Weird. I really only played poker against players that counted towards the quest, and the first time I played against each one of them, I won almost every time. I missed few players though, and I did lose to the king. I wanted to rechallenge him, but I guess you get only one shot at him.

Are you playing the Enhanced Edition btw? I heard that the novice players are really difficult in the original.

I bet you don't choose on second throw any dice that's how I always lose until I figured out that I can actually choose dices when it zooms on them.

Also I always save before playing dice in case I want to reload after losing.

I did choose which dice to re-throw on the second round. It never helps. From what I hear in the first version of the game the dice players were easy, but in the EE they were changed and are now very hard.

I managed to get over 7000 of in game money playing against professional dice NPC just for heck of it not even mention that most of time I have stop playing dice against normal or novice dice NPC players because I rip them off of all their money only professionals look like they never end up without money and they are bit harder then novice and lower NPC players.

I have been savecumming but it doesn't help - I still lose every time.

From what I've read the devs made dice poker so hard because of savescumming - however savescumming is by it's very nature a form of cheating and as a result you should not be balancing gameplay around it. A player should never have to savescum in order to win a game.

I still win quite often even without that.

By the way that description "savecumming" sound very naughty then it should lol.

I noticed some players had the dice stacked in their favor. Like Carmen and Thaler, however I had great success against certain players like De Wett and Munro. Yes the novice players are more annoying than their higher counterparts. Honestly just go for triples, its harder to get anything better than that. Like if you have a chance to go for full house, don't bother rethrow your lowest pair and hope to get a triple.

Also looks like you can only play the king once, it wasn't too hard (I had a hard as hell time with carmen) bet the max to get the most money, albeit at this point in the game money is worthless. And yes I savescurmmed hardcore.

I have made a mod which lets you finish a Dice Poker game after first round, plus it lowers the AI of opponents. I hardly believe if there's a way to make win-only mod.

You can find it here: http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/688/?

Hope this helps, cheers.

PS. You can endorse this file to let me know if this helped you, i will appreciate that :)

Oh, after fully reading your post i see what is your problem now :) You see, the devs made a difficulty of 3 for players like Odo in 1 act or Adda while difficulty of 1 is written for npcs like De Wett etc. Lowered AI mod which is included with one round mod is reducing that difficulty alot, try it.

I really do not see why you are having such difficulty with it. It feels like a 50-50 chance of winning to me. I like to savescum (reload every time I lose, save every time I win), and I'm racking up the money like a filthy cheater.

If you haven't won even once, then your game is just bugged.... or you are the worst dice poker player ever.

It's not exactly a 50-50 chance, this minigame consists of some mechanisms that favors npcs, and they depend on a difficulty number set for that opponent. I know that feel and that's why i made this mod.
CrumbleCat May 31, 2015 @ 4:34pm
Yeah sure, but even then, he says he's been playing for HOURS against a single opponent and haven't won once. So it's either a bugged game or a bugged brain.

I only had problem with one NPC once that is professional dice player took me an hour to beat him he would have one against me every time it maybe the dumb luck of his and bad of mine at the time but most time this simply doesn't happen often.

The dice poker is rigged, 1st roll I have full house with 3 of kind 5 and pair 6 , Dandelion has nothing, NOTHING!!!
2nd roll I kept and Dandelion got 4 of kind and 6, it was the last round (3rd round) , I lost so badly that make me to post this

Also I has noticed that:
If you lost 1st round , you will likely won in 2nd, then most likely lost in 3rd round
If you won 1st round , you will likely lost/won in 2nd round so the betting poll isn't getting bigger

I had won the 3rd round and that because the computer dice clashing each other resulted a 2 pair instead of full house, I know it gonna full house if it doesn't clash

That's how RNG works in this game :( There are many peoples frustrated about this minigame, in free time i will research the game's 2da tables and see if i can make it instant-win only.
