The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Is it me or does this game look really bad?
I am not trying to troll here, but on max settings I was surprised at the graphics. Didn't games like Fallout 3 and Bioshock come out around this time? They might be showing age now but they still look nice. I feel like The Witcher was from 2001 or something, as a PC exclusive I'm surprised that it can not even get close to Crysis in terms of graphics.

Shouldn't be surprising considering that this is the very first videogame ever made by a start up development company. Good thing that after the success of this game, they spent their sales on better tech and talented people that produced The Witcher 2 and 3 which are graphical benchmarks in their own right.

Yeah, THAT screen is not from Witcher 1. Totally different UI and Geralt has a beard so its most likely 3. Just finished Witcher 1 a few days ago and that game looks nowhere near as good as that. But it has a few nice locations if you install the "Rise of the White Wolf" Fanmod from Nexus that overhauls a lot of the textures.

From my playtrough:

Haha! You must be confusing The Witcher 1 forum with The Witcher 3 forum!

Max settings in the game only gets you a fraction of the way there. Go into your graphics card's control panel and override "recommended" or "game preference" settings with whatever the max options are. I noticed a big difference.

I'm pretty sure OP is some 16 year old troll. Games from 2001 looks nowhere near as good as Witcher 1.

The game also looks more attractive with some mods and a sweetFX. Especially the sweetFX.

Thanks for the mod/tweak suggestions, I'll look into that.

I'm really not trolling, and I just said it looked like it could be from 2001, not that games from 2001 look better. I'm not saying the game is bad, I bought it and look forward to playing it this weekend when I got time, just surprised at the graphics. Of course there is more to a good game than graphics and that is why I am sure it will be enjoyable.

Well good! Oh and fallout 3 and bioshock 1 also has terrible textures these days. :P

I'm using this sweetFX, if you want a link. http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/143/

Dump it into the system folder and turn it on/off with F12.

After success with first game they prioritize graphical technologies over visual composition. That's why Witcher 1 will always be my favorite by far.

Game might look aged texture wise, but its actually very nice looking aesthetically speaking.

I find the game looks pretty awesome for how old it is! I always laugh, though, when characters are zoomed in on during conversation. Their faces look so dead to everything around them. XD
Hi Conan, try this guide, hope it helps.

Old discussion but this game indeed look bad after playing Mass Effect which is just as old.
