There is a small crevice between the fence and a small hut to the top left corner of the field. Use this to regenerate health or use potions. Neither the dogs nor Beast will be able to get to you as long as you stay in this opening. Do not worry about the villagers or Abigail, as the dogs will not attack them. If you have upgraded Ard Sign for STUN, it makes the fight a lot easier. Aim for Beast, and cast your Sign. If he is stunned, simply do an auto-attack and you will trigger a one-hit kill.
I tried the hiding behind the shack to regen my HP. I'm not going to sit here for one hour to beat this boss. It's not about how hard the fight is. It's about how poorly it was designed. Fanboys will always believe this was the greatest game and the engine is good. To me a long time gamer, this is piss poorly done. There are no mechanics to this fight. You either die or cheat. I've seen youtube videos on how to beat beast.
Here's what's funny. Everyone says take potions before the fight. How do you know you are entering the fight right away after the cutscene? That would be cheating if you knew about the fight after cutscene.
Just saw a video someone fighting beast in hard mode. Here is how the fight went.
*took a blizzard potion (the one you said is the worse thing to do)
*took out the dogs
*he attacks the beast hitting him 3 times in a row (not sure how that is possible becausae beast only allows you to hit him with two turns before he stuns you.
*beast stuns him brings him down to 25% HP and he runs away from him.
*pops a potion, kills two dogs and then attacks beast while he has less than 20% HP. (weird huh, takes a potion and attacks the beast with less than 20% hp. Doesnt make sense.)
*Runs away, goes back to kill a dog and beast stuns him with now under 30% HP.
*He starts running around with 5% HP.
*for the final he kept running around and killing the dogs and taking one hit on the beast and he defeated it.
By far the worse tactic, worse boss mechanics ever in a video game. I did the exact same thing he did but unfortunately, for me I just don't like the combat mechanics.
Now my map broke and it's not showing me the town just a full view and I have no clue what to do next lmfao this game man.
Main strategy by priority
1. Keep Abigail alive (heals) very important
2. Kill dogs group style
3. Hit beast with no dogs around
4. continue killing dogs and beast dies on his own.
Seriously lame! You go into this fight thinking you are fighting beast you will die 10 out of 10 times because he's not the main fight the dogs are.
The beast can be stunned, an charged upgraded Aard attack, from my experience, has around 75% chance to stun the beast, and you can kill stunned enemies with one hit.
So, you can end this fight in 5 seconds.

Example and not trying to compare games it's like apple and oranges. Shadow of mordor was good combat mechanics. Albeit the repetitiveness but it did require to be aware of your surroundings and adjust to survive. Games like this are just annoying. Having to click on a target to kill it. Sounds more like RTSRPG to me. I haven't played W2 and looking forward to 3. I just hope the mechanics are not the same as 1. Assassins creed, amazing combat. Which 2 and 3 are like that.
