Put points into Aard, basically. And spectre oil.
I haven't remembered it, and I won't bother to replay this game from the beginning to do both.
Like I said, horrible design by really stupid people.
Lots of running around trying not to touch a fire nor become surrounded by the doggies.
Of course, the sadistic designers put another fight right after the beast fight - the villagers come to attack Geralt.
Because, you know, CDProjekt says "♥♥♥♥ you, player, suffer".
Worst game design I've ever seen.
Actually Abigail is not dead, she is unconscious.
Just quickly tap F5 in the end of cutscene.
Then you're a noob in the games. You have no idea how bad can be game design. Also this is not Skyrim, you need to use your head in this game.
Haha! I had the same reaction as you when I first tried out this game. I thought that it was stupid that there's suddenly a difficulty spike and what a lousy game design this is. But I just went right through, planned my attacks, kept Abigail alive, drank my potions and that was it. If you're having troubles with the beast, it's better to side with the villagers rather than Abigail because you have plenty of backup and the monsters won't likely attack you. If you really think that Abigail is innocent, then you have to overcome the challenge. Anyways, this is the only difficulty spike in the game so you don't have to worry about anything else.
That's the best part about this game. If you go for the decision that "seems" like the coolest, you will be rewarded with a challenging fight. Happens again in a later chapter about some vampire chicks. I would think based on that quest's story most people would choose to kill the vampires, but that is quite the difficult battle. I eventually got past the battle, but the way the quest ended from that decision really disappointed me, so I cheated a little and reloaded my save from before the choice was made.
My point is that this game makes you work for the choices you want, so if you're finding it too difficult, change your choice. Although, I would say a great habit to get into with this game (we always used to do this, but have become complacent with modern RPGs) is save before big fights or decisions. That way, if the battle is too tough, or if you don't like where the story is going afterwards, you can reload and change it.
