Any tips or even cheats for money?
I have played The Witcher until the start of Chapter 3, my hard drive died and I have lost my save.

I want to play it again but would like to be in a better position to buy the better weapons / armour in the game (I understand they aren't a necessity, I would just like to have them)

Previously I was playing the dice game to try and make my fortune, but it was slow and the NPC's would run out of money.

Is there an easier way of making money, or even a cheat to gain additional funds?

Thanks.

Selling a type of ingredient to Kalkstein worked for me. It's some green stuff that you either pick up off drowners or those slug things in the swamp. Each one sold for 15 iirc. I spent a LOT of time in the swamp so had a ton of those to sell off.

I assume you mean Drowner brains or tongues? Are they really selling for 15 each? I had like 3 stacks of 50 brains after I left the swamp and I wound up just dumping them to make room for more alchemical ingredients. Damnit...15 a piece!!!

No, now that you mention those ingredients I'm pretty sure it's the blood from the slug type monsters in the swamp. In your inventory it will look like a bottle of green liquid.

Bloedzuiger is the monster type. So Bloedzuiger's Blood is the item, just checked the wiki.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the quest reward for collecting Kalkstein that blood? I know that's a quest (maybe taken from the Vizima board) with a substantial reward, so are you saying you can straight out sell those to Kalkstein for 15 a piece?

Yes, at least while he's in his lab during chapter 2. I know the price is decreased later on in the game. I don't know if it changes in while he's in the swamp in ch3.

Selling certain ingredients give a decent amount of money. Albar's crystals are worth 40 each, and are dropped by bloedzuigers. It's a pretty common item, but not dropped 100% of the time.

In addition to drowners dropping their brains (which can be sold for 1 oren only) and drowned dead dropping tongues, you might also get ginatz's acid from them, which can be sold for 15 each.

I hadn't bothered to check the pricing on my ingredients for a while, and while I was visiting Kalkstein to sell some of them since my inventory was getting full, I noticed these items. I had a lot of them for having spend a lot time in the swamps and selling most of them and collecting some more got me enough money to buy the 5k armor.

Actually, I think the price stays the same as long as you sell it to the right person. I was surprised about the pricing a bit in chapter 3. I was about to sell some of my ingredients to the alchemist in the Trade Quarter, but decided to hold on to them. When I found Kalkstein in the swamp, I traded with him and he was buying my stuff for the same price as he did in chapter 2.

So whenever you want to sell these items, make sure you sell them to Kalkstein to get full price for them.

Oh I may have been thinking of the acid, not the blood.

Yeah that's exactly it. So the green vials drowners will drop sometimes, not anything that comes from the slugs.

That helps to know. Those slugs are a pain because they blow up. I stun them and then go for the 1HK, but it's tough to dodge away in time before they explode.

I suppose I should pay closer attention to the quantities of my alchemicals...I have been hoarding them so I only have to look for alcohol when I want to make more potions.

Same. It gets kind of annoying near end game, every time you want to pick up a new item you need to drop a stack of drowner brains or something.

When fighting those slugs, I just rely on the Swallow potions to keep my health up. I don't bother dodging away from their death-stank unless I'm surrounded by 3 or more dying at the same time.
if you want something to sell at the start after you leave the castle barghest heads sell for orens if i remember correctly

I appreciate your dedication to answering my question Nixulium, however in the last 5 years I have managed to complete this game.

Thank you for taking the time to reply though.
