In real life my stand is that no race or lifestyle is superior to another, they're just different, and versatility is a good thing, so morally I should've fought for the Scoi'atael. Yet I don't think I would've because of the very reason you mention. There's no point in picking a side that you know will loose.
Morally, you should have done nothing. The Scoia'tael's motto is "Drive them into the sea!" in regards to humans. What they want is literally no different than what the Order wants, they just happen to be bad at accomplishing it.
But I understand what you mean.
I'm just starting on the last chapter (chap V), and I'm very curious to see if Azar Javed has an alternate identity, that he's really someone else than he appears to be. First I thought he might be the king, but then I met the king. Then I thought he might be Berengar, but then I met him too. lol[/quote]Or rather, I thought I met him because the game text implied it was the case.
But now, at the beginning of Chapter V, I met the king again, this time the real king named Foltest. I immediately noticed his voice was very different and his face didn't look the same either, but I wasn't sure if it was because they'd used a different voice actor - or it might even be a late recorded addition as we find here and there with Geralt, though in his case I can always hear it's the same person doing the voice-over.
So now I'm even more in the dark about who the real main villain is. Who is Radovid and waht is his role in all this?
The game is excellent in that way, it leaves us so many hints as to who are possibly not who they appear to be, while there are also several characters we don't know that much about at all.
So my conclusion is still that saying which side we chose - and even mentioning that the leader of The Order may be the real villain - doesn't qualify as spoilers.
.........
P.S. It's a good thing to 'black' text that is or may potentially be spoiler material. I'll google it and learn how to do it....unless someone will leave a link - or even a line showing the formatting code? ;)
The real "villian", and I use that word loosely, is Jacques de Aldersberg, who is the Grandmaster of the Order of the Flaming Rose.
Radovid is the King of Redania, a kingdom to the north of Temeria. They're often allies in war but rivals in commerce. He's there to make a power play which will be explained in game.
Protecting the weak - or I'd rather call it 'the innocent' - is what I've done as much as I could in the game, but this is also what eventually forced me to side with The Order, though I didn't know it at the time; I thought I was just helping out on a single mission.
In the books, apart from protecting the weak, does Geralt side with anybody, or is he neutral?
Ah, so he is a king. Alright.
Thanks for 'blacking out' the spoiler part, now I know how to do it. It's so simple I had to laugh when I saw it. Thanks. :)
.........
P.S. I should've just opened a quote of a post with a spoiler 'black-out', but for some reason I expected the formatting to not be visible.
It's probably because that's how it is in other versins of msg. forums that I've been used to. There you have to open a different window with a lot of data on the post and the person who posted as well as font, html, and what not, but you can only do so if you're an admin or moderator (or if you own the website).
In books he's always neutral, until he's forced to choose, like in game. Because his profession he's often treated like a tool so he learned to keep his own side, which means, mostly, everybody hates him.
And this is also what lead me to automatically make the choices that I would've made in real life, which means I was making neutral choices while sometimes helping one side out and not the other when I thought doing so would be better than helping the opposite side or helping no one - not because I was on one side against the other, but because it was the right thing to do in that particular situation.
But in the game this lead me to be considered on The Order's side which did annoy me somewhhat. So if I play the game again in the future, I'll make sure to remain neutral.
.........
I would still love to hear from more people which side you chose, and why you chose it. Would you choose the same side if you were to play the game again?
Don't hold back - and don't be shy, lol...
Just tell us what faction you think is the right one for you. ;D
