"Minimum system requirements not met!" Error
I don't know why I'm getting this error. I have a new laptop, from this year. I know a laptop isn't the most powerful but the game's only from 2008. I tried looking at other threads to find a solution but I couldn't understand a word of what they were saying, it all sounded like gibberish when I read it aloud. I've tried GOG but I had the same problem. I even followed the instructions in one of their support articles that was easier to understand but the game would never open. I wouldn't get the error message but I'd be looking at my desktop. I'm already working on getting a refund from them so I'd rather not go back to it.

I'd appreciate any help to get the game to work through Steam.

Apperently it has something to do with game detecting internal graphic instead of dedicated graphic card so its ether using workaround by adding -dontForceMinReqs in Launch options or by getting GOG.com version of game or messing around with registry like this guy did:

I think I found a solution. Well, it works for me anyway. I posted it on their forums, it's on the last post from Walter Sullivan on the "Edit2" bit.

Here's what I did(ctrl+c, ctrl+v):

"What I did exactly was:

1 - open the regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Direct3D\Drivers and change the SoftwareOnly from 1 to 0
2 - go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\DirectDraw and change the EmulationOnly to 0
3 - reboot
"
Now try to play it without the "-dontForce" stuff and see if it works. That's what worked here. As I said on their forums, I'm not 100% sure if the game is now using my dedicated graphic card, but at least I can use high textures, so I'm happy.

This quote came from this thread:

Don't know about that last one with registry since I can't check it myself but if you can manage to make game stop detecting integrated graphic card and only second dedicated one I am afraid you gonna have to use Launch options "-dontForceMinReqs" workaround which even if helps stop error to appear it makes all texture quality set to low without possibility to change it.

Only remedy for not able to change texture in this case is to download texture mod from nexusmods which you can find here:

I heard about a fix for this that just bypasses that check. I'm still waiting on some installation stuff, so I can't verify it just yet, but here's what they said.

1. Go to whatever folder the game is installed in.
2. Find the .exe file.
3. Right click and select "Create Shortcut"
4. Put the shortcut in any place convenient (I did the Desktop)
5. Right click the shortcut and select "properties"
6. In the "Target" section, add on to the end "-dontForceMinReqs" minus the quotation marks.

Apparently that will just make the game not perform the bugged system check.

There is actually more simple way to this but it will be same result:
1. Find game in your steam Library
2. Right-click on it and click on properties
3. In General tab you'll find Set Launch Options on which you click on it
4. All that is left to do is add "-dontForceMinReqs" without quotations and click ok
5. Run game as you normally would through steam.

Again I repeat any bugs you might had with alternative will be same you just won't have a need to make separate shortcut to run game when you can do it like you do with any steam game.

Yeah, I found that the fix I found doesn't work for me, but changing Launch Properties does. I will get my $1.50 worth, damn it!
