Are the witcher contracts worth doing or can i just skip them?
I'm talking about the fetch quests you get from the notice boards outside of Inns

I hate having them fill up my quest log and then having to buy 300 dollar books just to get rid off them

Is there any reason to pick these up or can i just ignore them?

You can ignore them. They're there as something you do along the way to supplement your orens.

You can skip theese contracts. The main reason is experience. BTW, books is not the only source of monster lore, sometimes NPC can give you information, for several creatures you have bronze talent in intelligence branch.
