HEEELP "Failed to request product key from steam"

so my internet went down for a couple days, and i have to play an offline game ,i want to replay The Witcher 1 EE,but it always says "Failed to request product key from steam", i can't even get an internet connection to do that, i have a few question
-does this game require an internet connection?
-if not then how to solve this problem if i want to play it without internet ?
-Do i need always connect to internet to play this game or what ?
i know they give you the cd key if you play it when connected to internet

You need that CD Key just to redeem it in GOG

You don't need to be connected to the internet to play. If you are using 'steam', and own the game, those game files should be on your computer, and you should be able to play it in 'offline' mode. Just click on 'steam' in the upper left of your screen, and click on 'go offline', and you should be able to play. From my experience, you can do that with all of the steam games.

I am also getting that message and to try again in a few minutes. I never got the product key to redeem it. I just bought the Trilogy bundle and Witcher 2 & 3 work just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also having this problem after buying the bundle and want to play in chronological order ;-;

When I try to view the CD key or play the game it gives me that message.

Same problem here. I've tried everything that anyone I can find is suggesting, from validiating the local files to reinstall the steam client but nothing helps. Please fix it soon, I bought the whole triology bundle and of course you want to play them in order.

Found the answer online:

In most cases, the problem arises when there are not enough keys to play a game. This can especially happen with discount promotions when a lot of customers buy a particular game. As soon as new keys are available again, the key will automatically be added to your Steam account.

problem is only god knows when they'll be avaliable, which is kinda amateur of a plataform like steam to have such a logistic problem with keys in a game they just put on sale.
