runes and meteorites

about meteorites, how do you use them? i went to a blacksmith clicked on the icon with hammer on orange background and the inventory opens empty, and if i come with 3 of the same type meteorite it appears a sword there with 1000 gold, is this how it works with meteorites? or it is just a sword for sale

and about runes, how do i use them? it says i can brand them into silver swords, but i haven't found out how to do it so far (i`m at chapter 3)

If you have 3 meteorite, you can have him craft you a sword out of those pieces. Similar with runes, except you need a silver sword already.

i have a silver sword equipped and a sun rune in inventory, but can't combine those, how does it work?

and about meteorites, i have 3 red pieces and when i go to a smith i can buy from him a sword using those, that is the forging? meaning i lose the 3 meteorites when i buy the sword?

I think you need at least 3 runes for the silver sword, and yes, that's forging.

You'll need 3 runes to have a new silver sword avalable, just like the meteorites.
Also if you have, say, 5 or 6 of those all the combinations will be on display for you to buy.

thanks for the info, on meteorites say that i need 3 of them, but on rune doesn't

Which one? There are a few different meteorite swords, which pieces did you use? Much better than the default sword, for sure, though.

i just started chapter 2 so i got the one thats 40 damage and i cant really remember how much crit but it was deffinatly better than my default witcher sword with no stats. the swords name was just meterorite sword. btw do you know what stuff to collect to forge a good silver sword in chapter 2 because i have the default one you get in the story so far that you get to kill that cocatrice in the sewers

I don't think I was able to craft a silver sword until chapter 4, but I may have missed some runes lying around. It's no bg deal, thiugh, as oils will more than suffice, and you should start saving for the armor which is available through chapters 2 and 3.

Yeah, you can buy it from a few different places. It's the last armor you can get before chapter 5, and I don't know if it's available anywhere after chapter 3. If you're doing sidequests, you'll have no problem getting it mid-way through 3, at most.
