Six Feet Under
I was all for siding with the Scoia'tael until I spoke with Vetala in cemetery, the Scoia'tael are digging up graves, kidnapping and killing folk, if thats the case then it's the order all the way for me.

Yeah, pretty much. The way the Scoia'tael are portrayed in the game, well I just can't sympathize with them. They pretty much just go around stirring ♥♥♥♥ up and ruining the reputations of honest Elves and Dwarves and the Order reacts in a way you would expect. When you get to a quest called "Gold Rush", if you choose to side with The Order, you'll see what the Squirrels are truly capable of in the aftermath. That was the final nail in the coffin for me. Even though I had been mostly siding with the Order anyway up to that point, I could still see some merit in choosing to side with them before that. No longer.

In the books, the Squirrels are basically just a puppet of Nilfgaard, a foreign power trying to invade the North, and their (The Squirrels) motto when it comes to humans is "Drive them into the Sea!" Were their positions switched, make no mistake, they'd be doing exactly the same thing as the Order. They are somewhat more sympathetic in the books, because like the Order in the game, many of them are decent people who have been lead down the wrong path by fine promises.

As you play through the game, you'll come to a point where you will have to choose a side, or none at all. Beyond it, there's no going back. That point is unmissable, so you'll know when to get off the train, if you don't like what you see. I won't spoil it for you, but it is probably one of the best moments I've had in gaming when it comes to making a decision based on my own morality. A difficult choice.

I can understand if you don't buy into "the end justifies the means" manner of thinking, but if that's the case go for witcher neutrality. Why would you side with the fanatical zealots in the order? A big idea in the game is that man is just as much of a monster as anything else the witchers kill and the Order more than exemplifies that with its ruthless condemnation and persecution. The squirrels have no other choice but to fight back.

I made my way to the crypt, there they had people locked in with gouls. I was completely on side with the Scoia'tael until that point.

Yes ultimate the squirrels fight back and I was with them 100% up to the point where I found out they were digging up graves, kidnapping and killing people in cemetery.

Staying neutral is not an option in many parts of this game. Also Geralt is sworn to protect humans

Scoia'tael and the Order both evils. Tough choices.

Yes very tough choices, but the scene in the graveyard put me off the Scoia'tael completely, Also I haven't come across humans desicrating graves and feeding anyone be they Elves or Dwarfs to ghouls yet. Are the order just fighting the Scoia'tael or every living Dwarf, Gnome or Elf?

There are many dwarfs that live, drink and work among humans and I try to help them whenever possible.

Because aside from end game, you never see them doing anything particularly fanatical. Yeah, you're told about it, sure, but all you really see is The Order responding to what most people, even many of their own kind, deem to be a terrorist threat. Most of the time they're just policing the city and hunting down Scoia'tael commando units in the swamps.

Why side with them? Because order is the supreme virtue. Because even with them being racists, they're still bettering the world in a way that's seperate from their other ill goals. Even Non-Humans benefit from a further lack of monsters.

The Scoia'tael actually do have a choice. Dol Blathana was made into a puppet kingdom the last time Nilfgaard invaded. The Emperor put the elven sorceress Francesca Findabair in charge after she betrayed the Northern Kingdoms during the last invasion. She called for all Squirrel units to cease hostilities and return to Dol Blathana. That wasn't good enough for them. As I said, their motto is "Drive them into the Sea!" They will not stop until the Dh'oine are gone.

When Anders in dragon age 2 blew up the cathedral he was mostly condemned by most gamers for killing innocent people and being a terrorist, how is that different from the Scoia'tael feeding innocent people to ghouls?
Ragnarök Jun 22, 2014 @ 9:29am
I don't know, I never played Dragon Age 2. Is it different? Why would he blow up a Cathedral?

He was fighting for the freedom of mages who were being oppressed by the Templars and the Chantry.

You can find out all about it on the Dragon Age wiki.

Sounds like he was a terrorist. Lashing out at civilians will ruin the best of causes. If the people are against you, your rebellion will fail. If I was a peasant inhabiting that world, any care I may have had for their cause would evaporate as soon as they would destroy something I need or value as a pointless show of force.

Same goes for the bank robbery in The Witcher. By all means, you do whatever you need to do to hurt the people that would wrong you, but you keep your hands off my livelihood for I had no part in it. Social justice is all well and good but it doesn't feed a family of four.
