The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Does this game appeal to female gamers?
Are female gamers put off by the sex-scenes in this game?

The reason I ask is that I'm currently in the process of trying to find a game my wife would enjoy. She absolutely loved the Mass Effect series and I thought this might fill some of the void it left behind.

This type of game would probably offend your wife considering the females in this game are meant for viewing pleasure and sex....

there actually arent any sex scenes, you just collect sex cards, which i'd argue is more offensive, unless you think its hilarious, which i do, & which i think it was intended to be. i definitely wouldnt single out the witcher series as 'appealing to female gamers' but it doesnt mean one couldnt enjoy it just as much as any guy.

I know plenty of females who love the witcher series and the books....

that surprises me. i would definitely peg it as a "male power fantasy" type thing. incredibly, very much not an adolescent one though, as i once superficially judged it to be.

I haven't seen it a such as concern; and despite boob physics to boot aswell, I've found the females to be exceptionally strong and independent in the game. And the sex cards make me laugh.

It's a wonderful and fantastical story, I thought the sexualisation for me would be a concern, but no biggie at all!

Whole Witcher lore is full of strong female characters and Geralt is a badass monster slayer, yes, but he love womans and (in books) his relationship with Yenefer is really mature.

It doesn't offend me, I love this game and gaming in general, in any case the chose to have sex is your own.

The Witcher is one of my favourite games! It has an enthralling story and many lovely characters. Also you can decide whether you want to seduce the women or not and it makes fun collecting the cards even for females ;)

I'm buying to run around and stab things, not to woe naked ladies. But, iff there happens to be a lot of naughty business going around, well I guess that's just how the characters are written. It wouldn't stop me from playing. Sex happens.

To compare, I have no desire whatsoever, however, to play something like a "dating" sim, where getting laid is the entire plot of the game.

The Witcher is a really cool game, I personally prefer Witcher 2 though. While I'd point out that there are massive problems with the gaming industry that should be discussed and not accepted, it's okay to enjoy something and still be critical of these elements. I'd recommend other Bioware games like Dragon Age, KotOR, to be honest...regardless of gender it's more the genre you need to look for. If you like story games, Witcher should fill that void.
Thanks for all the info. We bought Witcher 1 & 2 and we'll see how they go.
