Problems with TWEE Save Editor
So, this problem is probably one of the most common bugs in the game, where I just can't talk to Raymond. I know that it can be fixed with TWEE save editor, but I have no idea how to use it. I've tried it many times and I always get this message:

Exception during program initialization

java.io.IOException: Unable to locate The Witcher installation directory

TWEditor.Main.main(Main.java:166)

I know I'm probably doing something wrong, so please, could someone tell me how to actually install the program? My English isn't actually good enough to understand every step in the readme-file.

Thanks in advance!(:

Well, the error message continues: "java.io.FileNotFoundException:C.\users....\appdata\local\temp\tweditor.mod (system cannot find file)"

Another info: my User in windows (8) has an "é" in it.. maybe that's the problem?

I think that could be the problem, maybe you should try changing the User-name. Also, I'm not sure if TWEE save-editor is compatible with Windows 8. I mean, it kinda is an old game already. That's something worth checking out.
I hope you figure it out. Be sure to tell here if you figure something out, so others can find help for the same problem too!

Update: Didn't work. My last guess is, that I have to change not only the data file location ( -DTW.data.path="C:\Users.....\saves) but the temporary data location too, which, according to the "about" section of the editor, is still pointing to the folder with the "é" in it.
Do you know what the command for that could be?

Sorry, man. I have no idea. If you don't find an answer here nor from the web, you should try posting the problem to Reddit's /r/witcher or /r/techsupport subreddits. The people there should have an answer for you.

Try downloading the files again. If this doesn't work, I don't know what to do, I hope someone else knows. I'm not an expert :Nutcracker:

Assuming that you've got Java 7 installed and installed TWEE through Steam:

1. Place both of the TWEditor files inside TWEE's installation folder. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition)
2. Right click on the TWEditor shortcut file and select "Properties"
3. Copy and paste the following into the "Target:" box: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -DTW.language=3 -jar -DTW.install.path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition" -jar TWEditor.jar -Xmx256m
4. Run the shortcut file.

Thank you very much

So I have everything done as per the instructions. Placed the 2 files in the witcher directory, got all the paths right. But now when I run it I get a new error -

"Error : unable to access jarfile Witcher"

I cant even find this error anywhere...

so i acsedently made the JAR file open on note pad now think i have f.u.c.k.e.d up the program cause when i put the "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe" -DTW.language=3 -jar -DTW.install.path="C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition" -jar TWEditor.jar -Xmx256m bit in the target box I get a message saying
the name "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe specified in the target box is not valid.
make sure the path and filename are correct
I know they are correct so does anyone have a fix that could possibly sort it out?

I have the same problem, except a little worse: I have positively pasted the exact folder the game is installed at, yet it still gets an IOException trying to locate it.

This is my Target line:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_131\bin\javaw.exe" -Xmx256m -jar TWEditor.jar -DTW.install.path="D:\Juegos\Steam\SteamApps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\" -DTW.language=12

Running the program from the installation folder doesn't help either, nor does running it from the data folder (keeping the "start at" field updated in both cases). I have the Steam version of the game and I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Does anybody know what path to put in if we have it on GOG?

I'm not sure as I don't use GOG but I'd guess it's not hard to find! Use the Windows' search prompt. I'm sure you'll find the folder!

I have no idea why the TWEditor doesn't open for me
I already fixed the target locations and my java is up to date (java 8)

running it on windows 10 by the way. Steam version

after about an hour of research and not getting any working results with this, i moved my install folder from my E drive to my C drive, and editor works. So, for future readers of this thread having issues, if TWEE is installed on any drive but your C drive, the save editor will not work.
