also download some other save if nothing works.
I tried verifying multiple times but it didn't find any missing/corrupted files. Do you know where I could find the same save file so I could continue? Also, will that new save file actually change my inventory and upgrades?
go to nexus website , login and type witcher 1 save and find in there:
yes it will change everything since its not your save , but it should not change too much since its same chapter etc.
then copy paste into documetns/witcher 1 /saves
Uh, this will actually give me the save file of the whole The Witcher 1 game that I can use for The Witcher 2 as a continuance, which means I will never fight the Grand Master. That's at least what I've found, but thank you for the answers!
https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/748
chapter five.
also after finishing game there is more story in the story tab.
one good story is this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/843
and there is like few more good ones.
those story are not connected to witcher 2 or 3 its just an extra.
if you liked the witcher 1 I Would recommend trying masquerade since its nice, it also has few endings.
From your description, I can't tell for sure where in the epilogue you are. It might be different for different paths. But one thing I can say for sure: even though I've played the game a lot since 2008, I've never encountered this problem.
Before the Grandmaster fight, the game gives Geralt the opportunity to meditate again. Is this the case for you too?
If so, save manually after meditating, upload that save, and post the link. I'll try if I can get through the critical part without crashing and save again before the Grandmaster fight. It won't be easy, but it's possible (I just tried it with my save).
Hey there, thank you for your answer!
Here is the link: https://ww w.mediafire.co m/file/ef2da6gybs6juqb/000467_-_Order_of_the_Flaming_Rose-050.TheWitcherSave/file (delete two spaces on www and com, I can't post link otherwise)
Basically, here I meditated and saved. When you enter the game you'll encounter two guards that you'll need to slay so you'd get the Key for the door. After that there is a cut scene and the Grand Master will teleport you to the Ice Plains. There you'll need to walk a bit towards him and then the dialogue will occur. After that they are supposed to enter the Ice Plains through the passage behind the Grand Master and yet another dialogue to occur, but that's the time when the screen goes black. You will see what I am talking about eventually.
I really hope you'll figure out what is wrong but if you don't I'll still appreciate the efforts!
BTW- Read my answer to the previous comment (that I'll post in a minute) below for more information.
Hey, I just downloaded that chapter five and finally finished the game. Such a shame there's a lot of different inventory, swords and upgrades than mine, I had a hard time adapting to them but I did it.
I was wondering, for example, on that downloaded save, when I killed the two guards so I could get the key for the door where the Grand Master is hiding, only one guard had the key and on mine save, both of the guards had the key. Also, on the beginning of the Chapter 5, there was Triss who accompanied me through the fights, and on my save it was Siegfried who followed me until the end. Also, on this save when I defeated Zeugl and left its nest, there were Elves waiting for me out and they didn't fight me. On my save they would fight me. I think the Yaevinn was their leader in that fight.
Hmm, for example on the last battle before encountering the Grand Master in the Ice Plains there appeared Princess Adda and she transformed into a Striga, and on mine save I cured her from that.
Now, having all of these in mind, maybe my choices, my play style and everything made the game 'crash' because I was not supposed to make those choices. Is that a possibility?
And one more question about the masquerade you suggested to me, is that a hack/cheat/something I could get banned or whatever for? If not, how am I going to play that?
Thanks again for all of your help!
nah , game witcher 1 has I think 3 endings depending on what you chose , either the knights , the neutral or some other path. (forgot a bit) the game does not crash on any choice.
but game is old engine so something must have just went wrong.
the save from the website focus on neutral patch which is why its a bit different.
but you do cure the princess but on ice age its not her but her phantom that transforms.
as for masquarade , you dont get banned because its a mod not a cheat. (its also recommended on steam news tab)
its like the save you downloaded you dont get banned for that.
its also not a cheat because its a different new game story.
there is tutorial on youtube on the link I send you.
or follow the instruction on page.
you can either manual install or automatic install.
just keep in mind its an exe file if you go for automatic so just scan it with antivirus just to be save. (I did and not found anything wrong, but scanning anything you download is always good philosophy.)
I do recommend it because I played it myself and found it quite good story.
as for manual you just copy paste according to YouTube video. 2 files to 2 different directory.
masquerade.adv to C/users/public/documents/the witcher/
and z_zz_masquerade to witcher /data
the rest is walkthrough stuff you can delete.
you need winrar app to extract files. (its free download online.)
I was able to download your save, but I don't have good news: the game crashed at the same point.
At least now I know why I didn't understand your description:
For me, this is more the beginning of the epilogue than the end.
But I see that the problem has now been resolved, although certainly not in the way you would have liked.
Yeah, this was my first time playing the game and I thought when he brought us to Ice Plains that there is a fight and that is it but now when I played on someone else's save, I see that it is not. My bad.
Now that you saw what I was talking about, you don't have some potential fix that might resolve this? I mean, I did finish the game on someone else's save but I'd still like to finish it with mine so I could transfer it to The Witcher 2 as well.
I wrote to their support and it looks like they don't know what is going on either. Probably the old engine you're talking about.
Okay, I will give it a try, thanks again!
