[SPOILER] How to preserve life of Berengar in fight with Azar Javed on Hard difficulty?

Most of talents is spent into Group styles, Quen, Yrden, Intelligence, Stamina. When I played last time with pure warrior on Hard, I faced no such problems. Any idea how to save pathetic Berengar-guy from mighty hammers of Azar-dude?

When I was desperate and pushing all buttnons after Azar Javed teleport stupid Gevrant into laboratory, the miracle happens and Berengar with single blow defeated the sorcerer! Of course it was a bug in the game when player using Aard sign right after end of conversation with simultaneously strike from that pathetic cowboy.

Nope. At least it is not look like. After that pathetic cowboy (a funny shoes he haw) stayed alive master Gevrant (I mean I pushed the button, not a cutscene so-called) talked to him and Berengar said with a sad face "I need to think...", and then go away, it is mean that he changed altitude and questioned his before decisions.

It's possible to save Berengar, but it needs a good preparation.Willow is mandatory.

Berengar is designed to die in this situation (suicidal behavior due to bad conscience) - rather a burden than support. Geralt has to protect him from himself if he wants to save Berengar.

Devil's puffball helps a lot. Using this bomb it's possible to kill Azar in half a minute - and save Berengar.

He's made of tissue paper it's true, but it's not difficult to keep him alive. Javed is not immune to Aard so you can basically stun/knock down lock Javed if you invest in the sign. Between that and having taken the time to maximize your damage out put and you can put the sorcerer to the ground far before he gets a chance to kill Berengar.
