Since we're both on windows 11, maybe its a windows 11 problems?
But I tried compatibility mode and it still didn't work, so i'm confused.
Do you use any mods or cheat?

What is your gpu , CPU?

Make sure you limit the game fps , as on my rtx 3080 I was getting 400 fps at some point , maxing to 144 fixed the issue of lag.

I have played for around 6 more hours now without a crash, i read somewhere that you should be playing in windowed mode and disable the steam overlay.. so far it seems to have done the trick.

Windowed, -dx11 launch parameter in steam. I've got it on a crappy laptop with win 11 and it's fine with those two things. Oh and verify because win 11's stupid defender will block installation of some (unsigned) files so look up gaming problems win 11 and turn all that stuff off

I did that and it still didn't work :/
At this point I think it's probably because I have an intel and not a Ryzen or Nvidia. Same thing happened when I tried to play Dragon age Origin, so annoying, but oh well!

Playing old games with a new Intel GPU is a bad idea, you should have expected that.

It is always worth a try to delete old save files, I'm one of those people that saves often and I started crashing towards the end of the game. Older games with save file systems like these tend to lose a lot of performance due to them
