Poor performance with high end pc
Like even with RTX 3090 it cannot maintain solid 120 fps all the time 1440p. Struggles to keep even 60 on chapter 3 while running at the town. Wonder is this normal with game this old. What frames you got? All settings max ofc. Forgot I had texture mod but still..

This is not normal i have a GPU : RTX 3080 max settings, all possible mods including multiple textures mods , and same resolution as you and on chapters from 1-4 I have 210 fps those fps would drop from 210 to 166 , and then drop to 111 and go back to 210 which means those fps are not stable and create a input lag so I limit max fps to 144 and, limit refresh rate to 144 HZ and It rarely drops more than few fps at time, most of the time it is 144 , 142 , 139 fps on chapter 5 I have 144 -120 fps when not looking at horde of enemies , the lowest is stable 90 fps when in most severe location in chapter 5 that is known for its fps issues. (some people say they get 30 fps in that location)

During loading old vizima from load save I get 5 fps that goes straight to 90 fps
So far the biggest lag in game.

Make sure you download mods from guide

Make sure you have no duplicate files from mods check every name of texture that mods add and delete old files, that are 100% always there.

Make sure you installed those mods correctly, no folders inside override folder.

Do you have the game on SDD disk?

Make sure you use 4 Gb mod and use NVIDIA profile inspector tool. that is found on github.

https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher/mods/954

Make sure you are not using cloud saves or big picture mode or any other steam feature for this game , and try to run this game from file explorer instead of steam, dont use launcher just use .exe

if you want to know how the game looks with all the mods on your resolution you can check the pictures I posted on Nexus , my username is Warhiz24

What temperature do you have on GPU when playing the game?

What GPU usage do you have when playing this game ? I have 40-50% , 0-1% for CPU and 1.3 -1.6 GB of Memory used.

no matter how old game is not getting 60 fps when you have better GPU than me is definitely super wrong , hopefully those mods and a tool can help you get more fps .

Do tell me if it helped you or not.

It is normal for this game to struggle at getting 60 fps and above in chapter 3 (trade quarter). I myself with RX 6600 XT and Ryzen 5600x could get only 30 fps in the daytime at the centre of trade quarter. Don't forget that this is an old game from 2007, it doesn't know how to fully use modern CPUs

Thanks for the answers. I deleted override folder and gained some fps boost. Still not that good tho. On average my GPU usage is about 30-40%. CPU usage 10%. GPU temperature 60. The game is on SSD disc

I read your comment again and I realised I understood it wrongly , I thought you had an diffrent issue ,
(For some reason I assumed you are having 30 fps all the time no matter the location.)

The game is super old and there is no support for modern pc and some locations have much less fps than usual.

There are few places with more fps drops than usual , but the 4 GB mod helps a lot in making those drops less visible.

The nvidia inspector tool should also give you more fps,

And mods from the guide I linked would make the game much better in visual without taking much fps away, (the guide is a bit outdated so check the nexus website if there are newer better mods that you want to add.)

I heard that shadows settings must be on medium as otherwise it causes errors in game , not sure if this is still true today , but just in case try it, also make the lighting quality low as this setting dosen’t actually change quality but only how bright the light is , and it does take few fps away on high setting.

Turn off auto saves , and only have 6 saves max , I did notice a small improvement in loading speed with this setting turned off.

*When using mods it is recommended to start a new game

I also recommend using a realistic reshade instead of one in the guide , as the colours are much more vibrant.

I never checked how much fps I have in game without mods but with all the mods my fps is very stable at 144 fps , never had 30 fps in any location (I always had more than 110 fps at all times in chapter 1-4) other than the old vizima in chapter 5 which crashed my game few times because the fps went from 144 to 1 in one go. Without me using a gsync

"The game is super old and there is no support for modern pc and some locations have much less fps than usual." Yep, I kinda was looking for an answer like this :D. At the very beginning of the chapter 4 (lots of trees etc) when I turn distance to medium it goes like 70fps to 120. But yeah I can live with it. Just wanna finish this game before christmas :steamhappy:
