Yes, when you use the isometric camera mode. If you are playing the Over-The-Shoulder- mode then you manage it by double-tapping the movement keys (W,S,A,D). Before you begin running, draw the sword and switch to fast style (Geralt is very speedy then!):

I had the same effect during my video above at 0:15. Seems to be a question of the proper distance to the surrounding kikimora. But if you repeat the double tap it should help eventually...
Or try it this way:

Much more entertaining than the prosaic version above.
If you simply accept that your goal is to get the mine collapsed onto them already and not to fight them, it's a lot easier ;)
I just used Igni to set 'em on fire and push them outta the way and ran like a yellow-bellied coward to the spot where you shatter the supports and kill...everything (including yourself if you're not fast enough hehe).
Exactly! In my case, I kept just bolting for the end of the cave and turning to aard the final beams, but I found I was surrounded by so many things I had to kill, and I think it may've been some kind of bug. Meaning, the queen was waiting in the back doing nothing while I was killing the kikimores, waiting politely until I killed all her babies. What I found worked, at least for me, was doing each support beam, then the kikimores ahead of me got scared and burrowed under and didn't come at me to attack, more of them did that with each beam I broke. I found when I just tried to get to the end, no matter what or who was in my way, it wasn't working right.
At least in my case, or what worked this time, there are probably different ways, like you said, using igni, etc, this was just what I experimented and found worked this time. I think I might've done something different for my first playthrough and eventually managed(after the 60th attempt)
If I stopped for even a second to do anything but run, the "babies" as you called them were on me like white on rice, and then the Queen made it her personal crusade to get to me asap ... and then I was bug food. I barely had a second to loot the body with the rune stone on it in the tunnel.
I hope I didn't sound snide about your survival rate. It took me at least five tries to get passed this point in the game, and it was frustrating because it almost seemed *random* whether or not the game engine decided I'd "survived" any given cave-in along the way.
Yeah, which is why I think it was a weird glitch or bug, it was odd, her just standing there waiting while I was killing kid after kid.
When I was running, before I decided to knock each pillar, when I was just running bloody hell, I couldn't get anywhere, her babies piled on me.
Yeah, I missed the loot, it was whatever, I just wanted that boss done with after at least 10 times.
Nah, it's ok, it looks like alot of people had trouble surviving this. It felt like 50 of course, but honestly, I think it was close to ten times for my first run-through, it was like 5 times, this rerun.
As you can see in the videos above, OCC, it's not necessary to kill any of the kikimora workers.
But there are other alternatives to get rid of the Queen. You can kill here using Devil's Puffball - or you can kill her by the sword:
