If so, then the problem is connected to your savegame, not to your installation. You could compare in Geralt's Journal the entries concerning the main quest; perhaps you find a difference? Or - if you are playing on hard - continue with my save?

nexus is a website for that (saves and mods for games) . type witcher 1 nexus and search for saves in there, then move saves to documents/ witcher 1
then in game load a save.
