Can't advance Chapter IV after getting Aerondight
After the Lady of the Lake gave me the sword the quest "Alvin" is stuck at "The Lady of the Lake was worth seeing." I read that Berengar was supposed to appear near the boat but he doesn't. I tried going back to the island and going back to the Black Tern Island on different times and he still won't appear. There are no more other quests available for completion.

There have been some players who reported this issue in the last years. I never encountered it, so I know it by hearsay only. As far as I know, there's no solution fitting for everybody. Perhaps you could download this savegame:

Geralt should run to the boat. Does Berengar appear?

If so, then the problem is connected to your savegame, not to your installation. You could compare in Geralt's Journal the entries concerning the main quest; perhaps you find a difference? Or - if you are playing on hard - continue with my save?

I was confused by this as well. I had Berengar appear right near where the basilisk nest is, near the boat, but not quite next to it. You could try running all around that general area and see if it triggers. I personally found the quest log confusing in the part too as it seems like you need to talk to the Lady of the Lake again, but you don't.

Berengar doesn't show up on the island? Did you look for him on the island or on Lakeshore? Did you interact with him previously? Where is he now? Inside the crypt? Next to the crypt at the fireplace?

I have the same issue.
I have interacted with him, spoken to him until he confessed and the quest said he would get what he deserves. He is at the fireplace. I've looked all over the island for him, nothing. I've also reattempted the quest by instead of using the ruby I killed a follower to summon dagon, same problem. I get the sword and then nothing

Hmm, weird. If you've spoken with Berengar, and if you've received the sword, then I think the only other major quest in that chapter would be the one with the wedding. Make sure you've finished all the story with the groom and the 2 sisters. Oh, and maybe talk to Alvin a few times to make sure all his dialogues are done.

Ended up just downloading a chapter 5 save file, few minor choice differences but nothing too major

I fixed this by dropping the aerondight i had spawned in via the genie wish mod before i spoke to the lady of the lake.

nexus is a website for that (saves and mods for games) . type witcher 1 nexus and search for saves in there, then move saves to documents/ witcher 1
then in game load a save.

or you can try loading your own save that was made earlier

I'll try it. First I tried loading a prior save but whole gameplay is bugged it seems. I go to the lady, I receive the sword and the gane still says that the lady will make me a gift but I have to be patient even though I've already got It. Thank you bro
