try "U" for torches/daggers.
You can also pause the game with Spacebar and select it from there.
sorry what do you mean select it from there?

Sorry; once you get a torch, you'll see the icons to your left, meaning, your weapons, your quick potions and your Signs; you can pause the game and click on the torch sign to make Geralt use it.

A Cat potion, in my opinion, will help you more though.
So I have the torch in my dagger slot how do I use it?

1. Pause the game with spacebar.
2. Click on the torch symbol to your left, or press "U" key (this works while the game is running.
3. Geralt should use the torch. If he doesn't, check you're not on any city during the day.

Best of luck.

You know the game has so many bugs and quirks it practically discourages anybody from playing it; and yet, you still want to play! Of course I'll help you pal!

Good luck on the Path!

What bugs exactly? I've never run into a single one the entire game. Certianly nothing to do with UI or Gameplay which work exactly as intended.

Well, ranging from corrupted savefiles to unexplainable CTDs (or even worse, BSODs with sound), to non-appearing characters/quest items, overall odd performance and the game's own nature, anything can/could/has happen/ed with TWEE. Just check discussion's page here and you'll see.

Seriously, you got lucky.
Better not fix what isn't broken! Cheers!

Been on the forums for a few years now and most of the issues I see posted are either from trying to run the game on garbage modern operating systems or from modern hardware. That's incompatibility, not bugs and the blame rests (mostly) with Microsoft, who apparently abandoned the idea of making OSs backward compatible with anything as soon as they rolled out Vista.

I wouldn't really say I was lucky, of the 1,900-ish people playing the game right now, less than 10 of them have posts on the front page about incompatibility. Of course that doesn't account for anyone who just gave up and didn't bother asking for help but those numbers would of course be unknowable and I suspect minimal.

I'm sure the number is higher than you think, but since most of the people have the same problems, they don't need to make a new post, they just look it up.

Thanks, but I wasn't talking about me haha. It seemed funny to me how you explained the same 3 times. But to be fair, when i started the game I didn't know how to use my torch either, nor how to change the camera angle and stuff like that. The menus were a problem because the letters kept dissappearing :/

Not really. It's the rule that players encounter almost no bug at all. I'm playing this game since 2008 more than ten times on three different computers seeing two bugs of minor quality.

This is exactly your error in reasoning. There have been sold 8 million copies of TW1 and TW2 before the release of TW3. If I read the forums of TW1/2 then I could get the impression that both games are unplayable. This doesn't fit to the number of sales in any way. So I'm sure that we have here a small minority of (often vociferous) users which have problems - and a lot of these problems are homemade.

Look man, we're cool. It was just my opinion, not the overall truth.
I love this game and I always think it's the best of the three.
That's why I'd like to help anyone facing troubles with it and would encourage him/her to play it fully.

I've also played the game since 2008 and found many game-breaking bugs either on XP, Vista or Win7 X64, also on different rigs, always having some kind of issue.
The fact that you haven't found any trouble puts you, in my opinion, in the minority of the cases, regardless the quality of the game itself (which is outstanding and unique, bypassing its structural issues).

Since you haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs, chances are you didn't read throughout the internet about all the problems many people had.

I had to restart the game once because I couldn't progress in chapter II due to constant crashing.
Once I've restarted it, I found I couldn't perform the authopsy in chapter II because the game crashed all the time. Restarted Chapter II from the beginning only to be stuck again at the authopsy crash. Restarted it again, crashed again.

Since I wanted to keep playing, Instead of starting all over again, I had to use a savefile editor that got me straight on chapter III. It took me nearly a week to complete "A Posh Reception" because the game crashed and crashed all the time.
Bit by bit, once I finally could do it, the rest of the game ran quite smoothly.

You can play it fine? That's great! The people you recommend the game to can play it smoothly? That's fantastic! That didn't happen in my case and I wish it did.

I don't see any errors in my reasoning because I'm talking about my experience and some obvious facts (be my guest and go to gog.com and check the number of people still having problems with the game).
Unlike any other old titles, The Witcher: Enhanced Edition still has stability issues, as many people you don't seem to know can point out. Some of them have the will to make it through despite all the bugs and crashes, though not every contemporary PC gamer nowadays have to, or are willing to, do it.

Honestly, I do not care if it's Microsoft's fault or not; the game never ran well on any of my rigs, not to me, and not to my friends either.
I still believe it's the best of the series and a must play.

That's why I don't mind repeating anything to help anyone to progress through this outstanding title.

Are torches lit? Good.
Best of luck.-

I think you may be overestimating the masses' mastery of the forum search function, but fair dues. Just going by having seen the same problem posted 5-6 times a week by different people even when a near identical post is two posts down on the front page. Anecdotal sure, but there it is.

I still don't think this game is significantly buggier than any other from its era when running on modern systems, based on viewing various Steam forums where 5-6 posts on the front page, on any given day are also for incompatibility issues.
