As soon as I enter the hut they attack me and block me into a corner. Can't use magic or anything. By the time I even start attacking I have 50% health

I recommend the arad sign to give yourself some space and then use the group combat stance to try and take out as you can

Yes, Aard is very useful in this situation. If this sign isn't strong enough go to the place of power nearby before Geralt enters the hut.
